Hinty hinty!

I don't see many topics talking about IDW's Transformers serieses. Am I the only fan? There are tons of ZOMG!! moments for me. I LOVE what Simon's doing, now that he has total control.

 

--His storylines interweaving between the 'G1' and Spotlight books are awesome...

--His use of underused characters (Omega Supreme, Monstructor, Nightbeat, LEADFOOT?)

--His cliffhangers are awesome, leaving ALOT of questions I can't wait to see answered and LOVE speculating on...Shockwave and the Dinobots being unearthed...Laserbeak and Ravage captured by the gov't...Nightbeat's reprogramming...Doubledealer's expected betrayal...who is the (presumably a Transformer) mastermind behind the machination? Skorponok? Soundwave? Bludgeon? Starscream? ...Is Hunter gonna be a Sunstreaker Headmaster courtesy of Skorponok?

--I love the G1 characters showing up in random places (Trailbreaker, Hound and Sideswipe)...and mixing them with lesser known characters (Scoop's a Wrecker, Road Rocket under Hound's command, Nightbeat and the Micromasters)

I have a question regarding Galvatron's spotlight. Having been unable to find it, I was just wondering what faction, if any, is he depicted as being a part of.

From what I understand, he's a completely different character then Megatron, and was aboard Nova Prime's first Ark that vanished on its first mission. So that would, nominally at least, make him an Autobot, wouldn't it? Even if he cut his ties to that faction he wouldn't be a Deception, would he? Seeing as he and the rest of that Ark's crew were lost to whatever entity long before the 'Con uprising began.

Nova Prime and Galvatron pre-date factions, but their allegiance seems to be connected to the Dead Universe now. All passengers on board the original Ark departed Cybertron before such factions existed. And as we see in Megatron: Origin, the split occured because of Megatron, which takes place much later.

Yep, he hasn't got a Decepticon faction symbol. Skram points that out to Hound in the Galvatron spotlight. I hope you find a copy, somehow. Its more of a fill in the pieces to the big mystery of the plot with Galvatron guess staring Hound and Sideswipe, than Galvatron: the man the myth, this is your life.

Well, as far as IDW continuity is concerned, I think Nova (and Galvy, it would seem) as an Autobot.

The Autobots are much older as the Decepticons. We see this in Megatron Origins, with the Autobots already established as a security force before the Decepticon faction even gets started.

Plus, in Megatron Origins #3 you see Sunstreaker and Sideswipe meeting beneath a statue of Nova Prime, with an Autobot emblem at the base.

So that was what got me thinking, if Nova Prime was the Autobot leader, and Galvatron was a member of his Ark's crew, wouldn't that have made Galvatron an Autobot, at least at the beginning? Of course now it seems both owe allegiance to the Dead Universe, with their loyalty to the Autobots severed.

Still, that wouldn't make them Decepticons, because they would have been absent from Cybertron during Megatron's rise to power. That, as we know, started during the reign of Nova's official successor, Sentinal Prime.

I'm disappointed to hear that. I guess it would make sense for Galvy to join the 'Cons after he emerges, but I don't get how he would have gotten a Decepticon faction symbol (or even knowing they existed) after thousands/millions of years being isolated.

Ah, sorry, must have skipped that. Well good to see IDW's paying attention to the little details.

Ok, my question is when exactly are the new Beast Wars comic and Sourcebook coming out? They are behind schedule, dont tell me IDW is dropping the ball on us now like Dreamwave did towards the end.

 

Also when is Devestation due out?
