What figures most need the Classics treatment?

Recommended Posts

While I think a few repaints are inevitable, I doubt (and hope) we'll see quite that many, Thad.

I don't recall reading about a new Classics/Universe Ultra Magnus. Wasn't that for TF:Animated?

Anyway, here's what I'm thinking we need:

Decepticons

Galvatron - obvious reasons, and by the sounds of it we may be getting a new mold entirely.

Cyclonus - hasn't gotten good treatment since G1. Armada Cyclonus was awful.

Shockwave - it'd be nice to see him as a gun again, and since there's already the Titanium mold..

Soundwave - Zero luck finding his Titanium incarnation here, and the reissue didn't come to Canada. Cybertron version, while a great figure, won't work in my Classics lineup.

Blitzwing - IMO the coolest of the triple changers. I'd rather see him than Octane any day (although I won't object to Octane either - my Decepticon ranks must be bolstered, as they're horribly outnumbered thanks to my lack of BotCon Seekers :redface

Autobots

Sideswipe/Sunstreaker - they're "confirmed," but I want them regardless.

Prowl - E. Prowl was horrible.

Cosmos - that concept art is too good to pass up.

Ultra Magnus - IF there was actually a new one confirmed, which I'm still skeptical about, I'd buy it ASAP if it's done right (e.g. ARMOUR). And it would allow my other Classics Magnus to become a Nemesis Prime or something.

Dinobots - We've got Grim, I personally want to see Slag and Swoop (because while I actually didn't mind the figure, the arm connection was weak and the alt. mode terrible, and neither would make the cut for Classics.)

And some that apply to either side...

New combiner molds. Not a rehashed E-Superion or Bruticus to go along with Classics Devastator, NEW molds. Give the Stunticons and Technobots some love. Hell, even the Aerialbots and Combaticons, if they AREN'T repaints.

I'd also really love to see a new City/Baseformer (Primus and C-Metroplex don't cut it size-wize), regardless of what line it's in, but I've heard the drop test disagrees with me. Wishful thinking....

Since Classics 2.0 is going under the Universe banner, I'd like to see some characters from different continuities. Maybe a few Beast Wars characters done in the style of the 10th Anniversary Primal and Megs (who both rock, in my opinion) some Japanese Beast Wars characters, or maybe even some characters from the A/E/C series who got shafted in the toy department (like pretty-much everyone from Armada).

In terms of G1 stuff, pretty much all of the movie/post-movie bots. Blur and Kup were fun characters, but got lousy toys and Poor Arcee never got one at all.

And Stunticons. Seriously. Four supercars that combine with a big, black semi (that looks nothing like prime for once) would be a sure sell, I think. I'd also like to see him as a completely self-contained combiner, meaning the hands/feet/head/whatever would be part of the bots rather than separate pieces. It might take away the "Scramble City" element of the original, but if it made for a better-looking bot in the end I'd go for it.

I want a Devastator that doesn't have duplicate limbs. I know it's not going to happen. But freaking come on. Most if not all of the others were new molds, so what gives. That was prolly covered in a thread already, but I got involved here post Classics release.

Wasn't there someone out there working on a homebrew Devastator?

But in stuff not already released: perhaps a Metroplex, perhaps in this vein?

You know, HUGE!

From what I heard, Hasbro was looking for molds with high repaint potential for the 2.0 line. I assume, therefore, we'll get some repaints.

I want a Swoop. Other than Grimlock, my favorite Dinobot, and damn difficult to get otherwise. Might be problems as there already is a Classics Swoop (the mini-con), but oh well...

No more Soundwaves please!!!!! I already have Titanium, Cybertron, G1, Music Label, and reissues. We dont need anymore for awhile. Hasbro needs to concentrate on other characters I cant stress this enough...How about a Cyclonus figure to go with Titaium Scourge or Ironhide/Ratchet would be nice. The other Dinobots maybe...

Sunstorm :D

Sunstorm :D

You are a bastage. :07laugh

I'd like to see an Ultra Magnus that isn't a Prime first mold as well as a boombox Blaster.

Ironhide

Prowl

Ratchet

Trailbreaker

Wheeljack

Brawn -DUMMY YOUZ!!

Screw botcon - missing seekers (at least TC)

Blaster

any dinobots

Warpath

Topspin

Twintwist

Blitzwing

insecticons (bombshell and or kickback and or shrapnel)

Kup

Springer

MENASAUR

Runabout/Runamuck (no autochangers)

Teh wishlist'D

Like I said, they're likely possibilities. It is doubtful that all of them would be used, but we're bound to see a fair amount, particularly if there was alot of returned overstock that they'll just turn around and repackage.

Reposting highlights from Botcon Hasbro panel as a reminder for everyone:

- Classics are back with Classics 2.0

- Sunstreaker and Sideswipe which look very slick but not as G1-ish

- "Continue realistic styling..."

- They are calling it part of Universe so they can do lots of stuff.

- Both look like Lamborginis

- Each figure has different modes

- Octane

- Triple Changer that turns into Jet and Large army Transport jey

- All are deluxe scale figures

- They are looking to so an Ultra scale toys too

- there will be 2 segments for fall 08

- First toon then Universe line (was classics)

- They want to have TFs for everybody

- Looking in to do licensing program for Universe. Add more real cars and stuff

- Universe has plans for Combiners

- Universe line does not have firm plans for mini-cons but maybe happen later

- They want to use Beast Wars characters but nothing planned yet

- A new Ultra Magnus is coming that is NOT a repaint of Prime

- Alternators and Titanim lines will not continue due to time and expense of parts for them and not selling like they wanted

- We will likely get a jazz in Universe/Arcee is a good possibility to

- Trailers for Prime are too expensive to make. The Animated Voyager Prime will have a tailer that becomes his giant axe weapon.

- If characters are in Toon they will not be used in Classics/Universe line

- There will be a combiner in Classics/Universe

- The proto Titaniums shown on tour will not be made becuase no molds have been made.

- Prowl is being considered for Classics along with Ironhide, Silverstreak and Smokescreen

- Prowl will be in both the Animated line and Classics

- No plans to do BOCTON EXCLUSIVE FIGS IN CLASSICS.

- No Thundercraker

- One reason they can't do all the seekers is becuase they have to offer a variety of toys and they don't usually have enough toy space to offer them all

- They spend a lot of time on naming characters. Its difficult with trademarks and such. They try to reuse ones they already own

- The molds for the G1 Dinobots are lost so they prob won't reissue them at this time

- Classics Sunstreak and Sideswipe will have different heads

- There may be some Marvel/Transformers crossovers. They are working on them at a corporate level right now.

- They want to expand Classics to do more than just G1 and G2 figures

- There are plans in the next year or so to do a combo of playsets and bases

- They are looking to do a Classic Galvatron That is not a redco of Megatron

- Possible Ultra Scale Classics
