In Superlink it's mostly due to that Shockwave is the name of the Japanese Tidal Wave.

It's funny that in Armada, they called Tidal Wave, Shockwave a couple of times.

Besides, if you hate the name that much, you can just sit him on the shelf and refer to him as Shockwave when you talk to him. Trust me, no one will think you're weird :tftongue

Tidalwave = Shockwave (Shock Wave?)

Shockblast = Laser Wave (hence, the mis-titled Energon episode, "Laser Wave: Rampage", detailing the escape of Shockblast from his Cybertronian prison.)

 

And Mirage = Shock Fleet. :P (so called because he's the reformat of Shockwave, I suppose..)

But what's funny is that Mirage is called the "fleet" when he's only one boat. The names should have been swapped!

And either way, I'm so used to calling him "lazerwave" that it doesn't bother me...never really did, tho. Altho "Shockblast" is so obviously conthrived, I woulda been happier if they would called him a totally random name that doesn't have 'shock' in it...Aftershock is probably what I woulda called him. or Aftermath....

I wouldn't have any problems them naming him Laser(Lazer)wave.

 

If anything, Laserwave seems to fit the toy better than Shockwave ever did...
