Has anyone used this paint?

Acrylic X11 Gloss,Chrome Silver (Tamiya)

or

3oz Chrome Spray Enamel (TESTOR'S)

I made the mistake of buying metallic silver and luckily I tested it on a peice of tape before painting my megatron. Bleh. I have chrome wear I would like to repair but at the same time I want to learn how to paint things in chrome instead of just buying junkers or sending my TFs to shops.

So, can anyone confirm that those spray paints indeed come out with a mirrored finish?

(or can recommend chrome spray paint which can be found at walmart or in a hobby shop?)

I got this one. First, the caps lie. There's no paint in any wal-mart or similar store that gives you a mirror-chrome finish. The closest you get is probably Krylon Chrome Silver but still you can't see a detailed reflection. There is a product however, 'Killer Chrome' from the Alsa Corp that does make a mirror finish. The catch is you have to get it a very, very, gloss black undercoat before you apply the Killer Chrome, then seal it. This product works really well on Transformers because they're made of the hard plastic that doesn't get sticky, unlike PVC softer plastics. You have to buff the heck outta your figure because the glossier the surface, the better the end result shine. Head to their site and check it out. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/killercan...me_prodinfo.htm I've seen it used up close and it really does look like the mirror-liquid-metal shine.

I use Tamiya's Chrome silver for any job that needs a metallic silver color, but not for chroming parts. No pint will provide a mirror finish, you have to use adhesive foil for that. Detail Master makes some under the name "Krome Foil", and can be found at most hobby stores dedcated to model making. It is very delicate however.

The Krylon Chrome paint is okay, but it dulls quickly if it isn't sealed.

Tamiya's Chrome silver is just a glossy aluminum-type finish. Looks great, but not for what you wish to achieve.

Last resort would be to use those rechroming services offered by specialised shops or even online, but that can be pricier than using junker bots.
