Blackout

Recommended Posts

His face and top of helicoptor weathering.

I don't mind it on his helicoptor mode, but on his face, it feels weird. Not to mention, I think the one I got, it was done a little sloppy one his face, because some of it's on his right eye. So when the light piping lights up his eyes, his left one looks like he's had a mild stroke or is high on something...

The point I'm trying to ask is, do you think I can take a dab rubbing alcohol and at least take off the weathering on his eye?

Isn't Blackout's face made from the same material as his hands, shoulder missiles, and Scorpinok? Wouldn't removing the paint give him an all white face except for his eyes? I don't think his face was meant to look weathered so much as it's difficult to paint bumpy PVC.

No. I don't think it's made of the same material. I think it's made of the same material as the rest of his body.

Not sure though. Will wait for someone else's opinion who has more knowledge of the material that his face is made out of (PVC vs. Plastic like the rest of his body).

Try using a toothpick dipped in nailvarnish remover first

Nailvarnish remover? Is that anything like nail polish remover, cause if it is, I have that. If not, I'm just going straight for the rubbing alcohol.

yup same thing

varnish:polish , petrol:gasoline

i think i did that right

You can also scratch at it with an X-acto knife- that works well, but be careful.

And Buddykiller scores 100 on the Literature portion of the college entrance exam

I'd use rubbing alcohol, the nail polish remover might be a little too powerful of a solvent and damage the toy. However, in my experience, one usually has to use a little elbow grease to remove the paint on Transformers wnen using alcohol as a solvent.

I can't recall, but if you can take Blackout's head apart easily, the best thing to do would be to do that, remove the clear red plastic part and then just use alcohol on that to avoid removing too much of the weathering on the rest of his face.

I'm not sure if there is a way to take his head apart easily. It's too small. It'd be like trying to take apart the head from a basic figure (though some of them it is doable, but a majority of them no way).

Yeah, I looked at mine last night when I was fixing his gears, you might be able to pry the clear red portion out of the rest of the head - but I wouldn't try, too much chance of damaging it.
