Alternator Ultra Magnus

Recommended Posts

recently i've been seeing alot of pure white alt Magnus's and it finally motivated to taking my competition repaint colours and applying them onto a real model.

here is the victim

as you can see i had already altered my alt prime be loosening screws on his shoulders and moving the doors onto his arms, this does mean that in vehicle mode his doors no longer open but that has never really been a decideing factor to me unless it affects the transformation in a big way.

here's what my plan is for him

as you can see i've completely gotten rid of white in his alt mode opting for blue, i could have easily have gone for white instead but by using the blue i have also managed to do a throwback to the diaclone powered Convoy colours as well as ultra magnus,

besides i kinda need the blue so it doesn't look out of place on the bonnet in vehcle mode

and here's 2 pics to show what he looks like at the moment after the paint dried

the robot mode parts are yet to be painted white and red but here's what it looks like anyway

he looks nicer than he did with just red i think, j ust need to figure out how i'm going to sand down his face place and give him a mouth and then do a bit more painting. The blue is a little darker than i would have used but the alternative was too light so i went with the darker shade.

what do you guys think?

Well at least it doesn't look like some stupid white Optimus Prime repaint...

It looks good, very good!

I am not a big fan of White Magnus. It was awsome in that one comic but the result is that we never get a real Magnus anymore. I can't wait to see the white and Magnus face. Have you considerd swaping the head?

Or converting the Ultra Magnus Gen 1 head for the figure... or the helmet style one similar to the Gen 1 character.

i had considered doing a face swap with alt silverstreak but after taking his head apart i was disapointed it was all one piece.

converting a G1 helmet isn't an option either as i don't own one and the only magnus figures i have are the classics one, rid Magnus and the Titanium G1 one.

the way i'm thinking of doing it is sanding down prime's battle mask and then just giving it a mouth.

it doesn't sound as good as doing a face swap but my resources are limited and i don't fancy cuting out the face just to end up with a ruined head.

i may end up buying a head specifically for him but at the moment i'll see how the sanding down goes

This is a good idea for Alt. Ultra Magnus.

To hell with white Magnus and Pat Lee who somehow made him acceptable.

What about a modified RID magnus head?

Excellent d00der. Nice paint ap.

My suggestion, do not sand the mask off, you'll get a sharper line if you use a razor blade to scrape it down. Be very careful though.

Oh, and can we get a close up pic of the chick in the photo?
