Umm....beautiful? :thumb

Where'd you get the booster pack? I found this figure on eBay (you weren't kidding - not cheap!), and he didn't seem to come with it. Is it G1?

The armor parts on most Yamato 1/48s are sold separately. I believe BBTS has some sets of armor parts available. Some Valks do come with them in a bundle but usually they're colored to match the specific Valk. Both of my 1/48s came without and I bought the armor later (of course I got them before the armor was released so I had little choice in the matter). The armor parts you get separately also come with an optional double-barreled cannon you can fit in place of either missile launcher and rotate to fire over the shoulder in Battroid mode.

If anyone would like to tell me what to touch up here, I'd appriciate it. Those legs boosters look too plain to me and was considering paining some panels black, but I didn't know if that would detract from the actual boosters protruding from the armor. Also, with the arm armor, I was thinking of painting the round fan outlet silver and the trapezoidal area towards the hands black or possibly yellow. What do you guys think? Fell free to digibash this one...

Unable to digibash here, but I'd definitely add the black to the trapezoids on the arm pods. I'd go with a gunmetal color, darker than silver, for the circular vents... And on the leg pods I'd paint the raised lengthwise section between the big single thrusters black. Aside from that it looks great.

I was thinking about the square you're talking about between the single boosters, but I was afraid a big black square would look like it was put there for no reason, and given it's size, it'd be pretty prominent, almost the main feature of the pack.

What do you think? I'm kinda thinking it clashes with the line of boosters right below it. Seems like something needs to be on top of the black for it to make sense.

Or here's another quick and dirty with the smaller panels blackened, as well as the arm armor and jet booster details

Thanks for the thoughts... keep them coming! :thumb

That's good, but I'd extend it all the way past that vent at the front/top of the pod, keeping the metallic look of the vent. That way it neatly bisects the pod. It also continues the design set by the black line bisecting the back-mounted booster pods. I wouldn't do the multiple black patches; personally it makes him look kind of hobo-ish, like he's had to repair himself with random bits of metal (unless you like that idea of course).

I like that idea. How about this:

Damn. I really didn't want to touch masking tape for another couple of months... but, well, it's for art, right?

El. Oh. El.

"Hobobots... Transform, and WANDER!"

That is absolutley beautiful! Nice work!

One suggestion, have you ever thought about putting a cartoon Skyfire head on that?

Maybe one with a pull down visor.

Could anyone digibash a G1 Classics Skyfire head over that pic?

Echo Would you object to someone doing that to your pic?

Just to see what it would look like?

awesome work, buddy. i second the motion for a skyfire head...
