Tracks is Done.

Huh. I'll be interested in seeing how you cram all that stuff up inside the car mode. Looks promising, although IMHO an Energon Downshift might be an easier re-shell; you could stick all the fancy jointing you wanted up inside after the fact.

yeah but with optimus, and rodimus, cliffjumper, and my ironhide, and future sideswipe, I wanted some blue on the shelf. plus I like the cool blue with the classic flames.

I'll keep that in mind. although I think with enough thought and enough beers I can make this work. there are a few cosmetic things I'm trying to figure out but all in all it actually fits. This is also my first one these too, so I'm sure I'll run into a all kinds of problems. :thumb

And Thanks to everyone for checking it out. Things are slowly moving along. maybe more picks at the end of the weekend.

Cheers

welcome aboard.

you really need to mirror your other pics over here, they are nice. especially your wj.

you used a different approach then i did. i'm curious about the reverse legs, are they modified so that the waist can rotate so they are funtional. also, how are the doors attached up top?

Thanks,

I'll get some pictures of wheeljack posted and show how did some stuff. I need a new battery for my real camera so it might be a week or so. I can't get any detail with my camera phone. but in answer to your questions, yes the waste now rotates. the legs have to be reversed. the feet are also reversed on the legs and this requires you to notch out a section. the doors are attached at the top, except that whole roof section is glued in the center and no long folds down over the legs. it's attached to the back. this requires some cutting and modifying. oh this can never merge with another energon toy anymore, which doesn't bother me at all. anyway, hope that explains it somewhat.

ok here's a quick photo update on the project.

the legs are almost complete. they fold under the hood and clip together perfectly – this is all mirage. but the two halves of the hood match up really well. the hole in the hood will have a raised engine cover that will convert into tracks' gun. his feet will be “folded classic divebomb's armsâ€. these will flip open in alt mode so that he can blow out others' tires in a high speed chase or during an air strike. the white shape over his right leg is a roughed out cover that will swivel to the side to fold the legs in. in robot mode they'll cover the void left in his legs when they're folding out. his wings are ripped off of rodimus. No worries, I'll be using mirages wings on rodims when I convert him to sideswipe and redalert. I threw rodimus in some of the shots for scale. tracks is gonna be an inch or so taller. I came up with two accessories that will accompany tracks and these will surely delight any hardcore G1 fan. Personally I can’t wait to finish this so that I can get to those. my only dilemma right now and it's a major one, is that I don't want to sculpt a new head and mirage's head is too distinct to try to repaint. any suggestions?

Thanks all.

That's actually really nice, thus far. I had my doubts, but it's coming along very well. The problem with the Mirage mold is that it's a total pinhead - I dunno how much headroom you actually have with this one, but I would suggest using the head off of a Basic... Brushguard, with the right paint apps, might work, although his head has that tire-detail on the back. Alternately, if your Big Lots has those oversized LOC knockoffs, try the head off of Hot Shot.

Incidentally, are you going to straight repaint Rodimus into Sideswipe, or are you planning another reshell? I'd almost consider doing Sideswipe up as a Viper or similar, as a callout to his Alternator form.
