At the end of the day, they're robots - the fact that they are essentially just really complicated machines means that it wouldn't cause the same trouble to write supposedly dead characters back into the storyline, especially if characters like Wheeljack and Soundwave put in an appearance, as it would in the X-Men or Spider-Man movies, where logic dictates that people who have actually, physically died should stay dead (that said, my Dad swears he saw Willem Defoe/Norman Osbourne/Green Goblin just out of focus lurking in the back of the Jazz bar in Spider-Man 3 - but that's a discussion for another time...).

I doubt that Jazz will stay dead for long - he's too cool to die, not to mention that the fans will demand his return...

As for Megatron, I remember the master plan was three movies, the last being the one with Unicron - I reckon he'll stay dead for the second and be resurrected as Unicron's herald on earth, Galvatron, come the third - purple paintjobs FTW!

Also, this movie absolutely 100% has to succeed if Bay is to have any kind of career in Hollywood after it - he may have broken box office records with Armageddon, but the critical mauling of Bad Boys 1 and 2, Pearl Harbour and The Island coupled with their utter lack of commercial success means this has to work for him - that said, it's rumoured Speilberg did most of the work anyway...

Oi! You got a problem with Bad Boys?!

o_O why was that last bit in a spoiler tag?

anyway

given the stance on realism and the circumstances of jazz's death, having his spark ripped from his chest and possibly eaten (knowing what we do about megatron) and then being ripped in half by megatron...

DAMN!!!!!! megs is such a badass in this movie!!!!

anyway, given those circumstances i don't really see them bringing jazz back. anything's possible though. you know megs will be back however his spark was just scattered by the allspark so they could do almost anything there.

We was there, I tells ya, he was there.

Oh, BTW,

It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people.

Just figured I would share.

Actually, you're wrong there...

Bad Boys 1 & 2 (mainly 1) both did very well on DVD. Domestically, Bad Boys 1 did great in the theatres, made almost 4 times it's production budget. Even Bad Boys 2 made more than it's budget back. Pearl Harbor also made $50 million more than its budget to also be a technical studio success.

& here I thought this was something new & could possibly destroy my eager anicipation for July 4th. :P

Fortunately not.

this was confirmed pretty much from the start so no real suprises here.

What does bug me though is that according to the leaked script

The military takes out the Decepticons, Sam kills megatron & the Autobots pratically do nothing.

:tdown

putting that in Spoiler tags will be my good deed for the week. :thumb

Personally, I'm sick and tired of Starscream living in Megatron's shadow when he is the more iconic of the two. Would it really hurt to let Starscream lead for once?

Yes.

Nah, I kid.

I actually read the movie novelization, and it's pretty interesting. They use the term Energon Cube, call Brawl Devastator, and many other little interesting things. So I think it was adapted from the prototype script.

I just read the storybook that "sparked" this discussion (oh, I'm horrible :tftongue )

I love the vague child language those books use.

The Autobots were going well, until Jazz gets hit by Megatron's blast. And then all we see is Megatron get killed by Sam...the other Decepticons simply disappear.

:tflaugh

ok, nothing's going to be in spoiler tags here, because well.... lets face it, if you dont want to read spoilers, why look at this thread? The OP/Megs thing really doesn't surprise me that much to be honest. As far as Jazz is concerned... well, two thoughts, one, it would be kinda lame if NO autobots died, And lets face it, no matter who got the axe, someone would Starscream about it. So from an artistic standpoint, it's kind of a catch 22. Next, if an autobot dies, i could think of alot worse choices than jazz, and at lesat ALL of the autobots (that matter) don't get PWNED in the first half hour of the movie.

One other thought, what is the authenticity of this "leaked" script? I mean, who's to say it wasn't intentionally put out there just to raise more hype about the movie. For all we know, it could possibly be an alternate, and none of this, or at least not all of it, actually happens in the movie. Just a thought.
