If there was no movie, what would you think of the Toys?

Recommended Posts

If the toys we're expecting in june were just "next years line", just a follow up to classics, would they be a good line? Are you harder or easier on them because they are the "Movie Toys"?

I know most of us have seen none of it in person and it's hard to judge, but from the images we have how does this line hold up on its own?

Edit: Sorry I put this in News. Oops.

I'd wonder why they were all so monochromatic. They don't have the eye-catching quality that most Transformers toys do. But they are definitely some of the more original designs that we've seen in a long time.

id give the toys credit for being creative but i would not be so keen of the faces and all the exposed machine looking parts all thats cuz im a fan of the anime look alot of newer toys have

I still wouldn't like the heads. And like Blitz, I don't find the exposed machine parts look all that appealing. Other than that, think I'd consider them as just Yet Another Attempt to "re-invent" the franchise, not really any diff than now. Some of the alt modes are decent though, and I do like the idea of Ironhide in black.

I have no idea anymore wether what you're saying is supposed to be either serious or sarcastic anymore. :redface

You are just that good I guess.

On topic. The toys are awsome & have been executed beautifully for the most part. That said a movie wouldn't even have needed to happen to interest me in this line.

Two words.

Topkick Ironhide

What more insentive does one honestly need.

Glad we're getting both though. :thumb

I for one love to see different approaches to the Franchise, so i'd probably be all for the designs, regardless of movie.

Tweak the faces a little so theyactually look like faces instead of scrap metal and we'll talk. But I'll still be picking up some from this line, not all but some. And I have to agree they do look more "adult" if that's how you want to look at it. And at first I was on the fence about the bare robot look but it's growing on me. The only figures I care about looking anime are G1, just because they should. That's a whole 'nother ball game, though.

For me it's an interesting line, but with out the "Movie Toys" consideration its realy just on the better side of mediocre. Better alt modes than usual but uglier robots. The articulation looks good.

I was really diggin classics. So as a follow up line this just seems like a step down hill. I know classics apeals to my G1 nostalgia, but I really think they were great toys. Wich makes sense considering they were taking great but old desighns and giving them the benifits of the modern era. I think the movie TFs are cool overall on screen, and make sense for a live action movie, but like Beast Machines, they don't nessasarily make good toys.

That being said, I am greatly looking forward to the sidelines, robot heros, stompin bots and the like. This will be a prolific line if nothing else. But to the main transformers line that will ocupy the traditonal spot on the shelves I say, Eh.

I'd still be pretty happy with what I've seen so far.

Concepts like a Decepticon Police Car and truly distinct Ironhide and Ratchet molds are just too cool not to love. Plus I like the attempts at just making the 'Cons look alien and evil. Plus, the realistic alt. modes and less cartoony robots are a nice change of pace after the years of A/E/C.

If there was no accompanying fiction, I would love the vehicle styles, but probably not the heads. And a brown starscream would ruffle my feathers.
