*I've been a TF fan since the begining, but come on, nobody complained about Optimus "Primal" in Beast Wars. Or hell, Beast Wars in general.

 

 

Nobody complained because...

 

1) Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal are NOT the same character.

 

2) Beast Wars was a continuation of original G1 story continuity. The U.S. version that is. The Japanese BWs series was OK but goofy none the less.

 

Now Beast Machines on the other hand. It's Blote. As well as just about every other TF cartoon since then. RID, Energon, Cybertron etc.

 

I'm 33...not much I can do about my nostalgia for 80's TF and BW. I'm excited about the movie. I'm excited about SOME of the re-imagined stuff. ONLY thing I really think this movie could do without is Michael Bay. Not because he and the writers changed up the continuity...just cause he can't tell a story. Sure he can make things blow up etc. but I just havn't seen him tell a decent story yet. Just my opinon though.

Totally agree with everything you`ve said the main concern i have always had is although Bay can direct an action scene (assuming it hasnt been done by a differnt action scene director) when it comes to story he ain`t fit to direct traffic.

BUT i really do hope im proved wrong.

I seem to remember a Blot load of people moaning about Beast Wars in general at the time.

well, for me the japanese beast wars rocked hard..leo convoy..that rulz man!

However, I don't know why there's an issue with Hotshot and female transformers. I personally think Hotshot rules, as he was much stronger than Bumblebee. And femmie transformers rock. :P

I mean I liked the BWNeo and all...I did like Lio Convoy and I think my favorite of all was BigConvoy. I got a friend who was going to Japan, to bring me his figure. Anyways I think it was the tie that the American BWs had to the G1 continuity impressed me more.

 

I just couldn't take watchin RID, Energon and Cybertron. The biggest issue for me was just the characters, the dialogue, and those dang kids! WE did get some pretty nice figures out of it though. RID Prime and Ultramagnus I think are my favorite of them all.

 

Anyways as far as the movie goes...as long as it's not RID, Energon or Cybertron then I'll be happy. Even if it's not G1...wich it isn't...it's got to be better than the last 3 cartoon series.

Fembots are cool. Arcee was ok. BA was AWSOME! Is the new movie Arcee figure a game character? Or is it just filler? I know she's not in the movie. at least not from what I've seen.

 

Not a fan of Hotshot. I think because I didn't care for Cybertron of Energon either. Now Bumblebee was a VERY strong character. One thing it seems alot of people forget about is that there was much more than the cartoons back in the eighties and early nineties. The Comic books I think, for story and characterization, was much better than even G1. check out some of the old comics and see what you think of Bumblebee then.
