Play your own "Devil's Advocate".

Why? I don't like the pseudo-magic shrinky-dink idea and I don't think it belongs in the movie and there's nothing you can say to change my mind. It's a cartoon gimmick whose only purpose would be to provide certain fanboys (such as yourself) with wanking material. Give it a rest already.

Whether you like the idea or not doesn't really matter. Having Soundwave with an updated alternate mode which is still true to his original and with Mass conversion can and would work within the context of the story and can look rather believable, even with Frenzy already established. Instead of saying "it can't be done" or, "it shouldn't be done beause Frenzy already turns into a stereo and doesn't Mass convert", why don't some of you naysayers come up with ideas of your own on how Soundwave having a modern stereo system mode with Mass conversion could work within the context of the story. I have given mine, They work and they make sense to me. Play your own "Devil's Advocate".

This is what I have come up with for a good Soundwave design for the Sequel:

SdLt3m8MovhzEBy0yayA8xpqVVQwQFwY0300.jpg

This alternate mode includes a DVD player with monitor, a 3-disk CD changer, AM/FM, Surround sound stereo, a remote (which can turn into a minion), Equalizer, as well as ports for an MP3 player, earphones, and other electronic devices. The disguised features, of course are all of his communications and scanning capabilities.

I have tried to work somewhat wthin the mode detailed movie aesthetic while still maintaining his G1 essence. Obviously, this is just a quick sketch.

That would be a sweet toy & it would work in a cartoon.

On the big screen? Mass-shifting?

No.

But the point is that we (the naysayers) DON'T need a mass-shifting Soundwave that is a Stereo/Electronic Device/System to be Soundwave, nor does he need to be a mass-shifting stereo to do his function/job and have minions. It's not that we can't come up with a mass-shifting Soundwave that works in the movie - it's that we don't think there needs to be a mass-shifting Soundwave in the movie. - At least I know I don't, and from the response so do lots of others here.

As long as he has Soundwave's persona and maybe a cool effects-ish voice, I don't really have to have Soundwave be a Stereo, Laptop, or any other Electronics Device. If he sorta looks like Soundwave, does his job, has a minion or two, and has Soundwave's persona - then he IS Soundwave to me. Despite NOT being a Stereo.

Nice Sketch BTW.

I've realized far too late that: Atmo:Starscream::Tramp:Soundwave

But at least Atmo would answer all the questions asked of him.

Why not? Whether you like the idea or not isn't the point. If you have ever taken a debating class, there have been times when you may have been asked to take the side of an argument that you personally do not agree with, but have to agrue for anyway and come up with favorable reasons to support it. That is what I am challenging you to do here.

That would be a sweet toy & it would work in a cartoon.

No.

And what is so wrong with Mass shifting? instead of saying "no" come up with your own reasons why it could be a "yes".

Whether you need it or not isn't the point. The point is can it work in the movie? Yes, it can work in the movie. I have given my reasons why it can work. If you don't like those reasons, fine, pit your brains to work, whether you like the concept or not, and come up with your own reasons why it can work in the movie.

Look at it like this. Say Hasbro, Don Murphy, and Michael Bay came to you and told you they were bringing Soundwave in for the Sequel, and they insist that he be a stereo system of some form, and that he Mass convert. Whether you like the idea or not, you are assigned the task of coming up with a way to make it believable within the story. How would you accomplish that?

There is NO POINT for me to answer a question that you are trying to use to help fuel your own desire/fire for Mass-Shifting Soundwave. You have your reasons and are sticking to your guns. You can not ask me to suddenly come up with a way to agree with you. This is NOT debate class - these are our real opinions. Some of us don't like mass-shifting period, or in my case - I DON'T see a need for it to be done.

I'm not going to try to come up with a way to agree with you, when I don't see a need for it to begin with.

That is all.

That would be a sweet toy & it would work in a cartoon.

SHUT THE F*** UP PLEASE YOU ARE SO ANNOYING IT'S UNREAL!!!

How many times must people tell you that it's a STUPID idea before you realise that you're not going to change anyone's opinion? It's like me saying to you "HEY DUDE GIVE ME A GOOD REASON WHY I SHOULD HIT MY THUMB WITH A HAMMER LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!" it can't have a reason because it's obviously a f***ing STUPID idea.

There is NO REASON for stupid shrinky-warpy-rubbish to be in the movie & that's my final opinion. Nothing will ever change that. Please stop f***ing patronising me by suggesting I look "for the positives" or whatever - DON'T YOU THINK I'VE DONE THAT!?! What, do you think I'm saying it just to irritate you or something?

You have contributed not even 1 good reason NOT EVEN ONE as to why lame magic tricks should be used in the movie, so please get straight to the point & present it if you can. Stop skirting around the subject & spit it out; I'm all ears.....

Then why even discuss it? The whole point of this was to find out ways to make Soundwave's alternate mode as a Stereo and mass shifting believable and workable within the concept of the movie, not simply to shoot such ideas down because you don't like the concept. In other words, "How and why should it be used", not "why shouldn't it be used". If all you want to do is say, "that can't be done" or "there is no point to it", there is nothing more to be said.

Can having Soundwave mass convert, and transform into a modern analog to his original alternate mode, in the sequel work? Yes, it can. Are there ways to fit it into the story believably even with Frenzy already established? Yes, there are. I have shown that it is possible, and can work. Whether you consider it necessary or not, or whether you like the idea or not, doesn't matter. It can be done and make sense.

You haven't shown how it can work though.....

That would be a sweet toy & it would work in a cartoon.

Siburke, I have given good reasons which are just as valid as some of the other people's reasons for not not using it. Mass conversion isn't a lame trick, whether you like it or not, it is part of Transformers lore, and has been a staple of science fiction and fantasy for decades. If it were such a lame concept, it wouldn't be so widely used now, would it?

Whether you like the concept or not, it can work and make sense if done in moderation, and it can fit into a live action story without looking goofy.
