HE'S A ...KING GOBOT!!!!

Recommended Posts

Gr..... :tfmad

I just don't get why people can't just shut the heck up while in a crowded place like a movie theater.

(in case you haven't guessed it already, this is one of my biggest pet peeves.....)

Thank you to the teenage non-stop-talking assmunches who sat right in front of me during Return of the King, as well as the woman next to me who giggled nervously throughout the entire thing. Thanks a pantload. It's not like I'd been waiting my whole life to see this movie or anything. No problem.

Arrg. Cuban Pete got the point.

1) I'm not against the movie, after it became clear what direction it was taking I was all for it.

2) I like most of the autobot voyager class (point of fact, Ratchet is on the way, I want Ironhind for definate, and Barricade like crazy, plus leader class Prime)

I don't mind Megatron's general design, but I think its one that doesn't do well as a static picture, and needs motion to describe him. My BIG NARK is his freaking hands.

Ok as described by robotics experts the human form is a bad choice in certain specific tasks and therefore to complete a task say such as climbing a rope it's better to be a motorised pulley wheel as it can roll straight up the rope with out having all the problems of arms and legs to move. Therefore Megatrons hands could well fit into this category, but if so why have him humanoid shaped?

And that's all I'm saying.

Yeah that is one of the funny things about Transformers..... humanoid robots are cool to kids and other people who know nothing about robotics, but just keeping a bipedal robot from falling over requires a ton of work (to say nothing of walking or fighting etc.). But that's what they are, and if you're going to give the robots real-life functional robot modes then there'd be no reason for them to "transform" in the first place. They'd just be their alt mode. So there is that.

It is one of the concerns i have about "selling" the concept to a general audience... are people going to buy these things as humanoid robots that have to transform?

For the purposes of the movie, I suppose one could simply say Megatron has a humanoid form for the same reason the other transformers have humanoid forms, whatever that is (if it's explained). The common plot explanation from mecha anime stories is that the human form is more versatile than that of robotic forms that perform a single function. Couldn't tell you about the hands aside from guessing because it "looks scarier?"

I've always assumed Cybertronians were intentionally designed to mimic some form of humanoid alien life that hasn't been seen. This would explain any and all humanoid features while leaving it up to creative writers to consider who they were based on.

You'd have to explain it that way. There's no other reason why robots would choose to be built in a bipedal form with a high center of gravity.

I mean, we all know the REAL reason, but we're leaving Takara and kids' toys out of this discussion. ;)

Heh, yeah... Ultimately they're all just cover-ups for the real reason. As long as the production can maintain that suspension of disbelief, that's what counts. At some point, one'd have to realize that if audiences accepted those 3 completely pointless car chases, why should other details matter?

OMG!! I remember that gobot guy. This is so wild. man, that part of my memory is so shrouded.

Eh, it's a small class toy.. to be honest, none of the minis have really looked good.. but blackout and ironhide voyager size are quite well put together.. and really, I think megatron looks neat as a 'whatever the hell it is' .. It's probably going to be a lot cooler in the movie anyway.

Well either way I'm still drooling at Baricade voyager class, simply becuase of the detail....

and other quandry appeared this morning on TFormers of the voyager class prime...how come that one is more accurate to the movie images than the leader class?

Ok I can see elements of transform that Prime will have in both but for accuracy the yovager class at a smaller scale looks better...go figure.

I'll get back on the topic. :)
