I cant help but think that every single TF movie toy ive seen so far looks like shit.

The manic mold detail...combined with the SEVERE lack of paint details = generic ass looking robots that u cant even tell whats going on.

Sorry pal, but you're "severely" talking out of your ass on that one.

I see his point. I wouldn't go so far as he has, but this is one of the limitations you run up against when TFs aren't designed as toys first. They have to make the toys emulate these much larger CG models, which are made up of lots of different pieces.... the toys, by necessity, are going to take all those pieces and just mold them out of one piece of plastic. And the movie bots aren't all brightly colored and paint app'd and stuff, so yeah they do have a sort of prototype-ish quality about them IMO.

I think that's one reason why I'm not really excited about the toys... they just give off such a different vibe, they don't make me say "wow" the way the actual CG models do.

except for Starscream :P

except for Starscream :P

:tflaugh

you are relentless arent you

I like it, but without that things on the chest.

Its a minesweeper attachment for tanks. or you could say its spiked nips. :eek

just saw the new starscream. look at how fat he is in jet mode. im hating this toy line more every time new shots are leaked.

i will love the movie NO MATTER HOW it turns out. just cuz. fanboyness. but this toy line is dissapionting the hell out of me.

p.s. i dont know why they had to make every one of their faces look like an insect.

I cant help but think that every single TF movie toy ive seen so far looks like Blot.

Naa the problem isnt making models first, its sticking wtih REAL WORLD vehicles and restrictions. Look at the ALTS, they look practicaly the same all of em, just with enough deets to separate em. Then take CYBERTRON MEGATRON, fantastic vehicles, PIMPED OUT JETCAR / SPACEJET / ROBOT without the restrictions of IRL DESIGN the designers can go nuts.

Sure they can go nuts, but it also kind of defeats the purpose of the transformers' ability ot transform, which is disguise. Therefore, real-world vehicles make much more sense. As far as the Alternators all looking the same, I have to disagree with you on that. They were all very different from one another; particularly between car models. The bots made from the Viper models, are quite different than the ones using the Subaru bodies, which are also quite different than the Mustangs, and Mazda's, and Vettes. They are each very different, with different transformations. The design of the robot mode, and transformation, is always going to be limited by its alternate mode, whether that mode is made-up or based upon a real-world vehicle. The transformation from a pick-up to robot is not going to be the same as that for a sportscar to robot transformation, or a semi to robot transformation, or jet to robot transformation. Even two different style sportscars are going to require different transformations because of the body style of the car. You wouldn't necessaarily use the same transformation for a TransAm as you would for a Corvette or a Mustang. You wouldn't use the same transformation for a T-Bird as you would for a Porsche or a Astin Martin. You wouldn't use the same type of transformation for a long-nosed semi as wou would for a cab-over-engine model semi. An F-16 isn't going to transform the same as an F-15 or an F-22. An F-117 isn't going to transform the same as an A-10. An Appache isn't goign to transform the same a a Blackhawk. It isn't the fact that they are using real-world vehicles which is limiting the designs. The G1 TFs used real-world designs, and they were all quite versitile in their appearances. It is the types of vehicles, and over-all shapes, not their specific makes and models, which determines their final appearances and limitations of the designs.

I second that one. I can be pretty critical and there are the toys that IMO look like ass but to someone else they are a dream come true. And then there are the toys I feel are just the Blot. But one can not say that all of the line is total Blot.

I think we have a lot to look forward to, a lot of nice art work in toys coming our way.
