the only one that i think should have really been changed for energon is downshift when everything about him screamed wheeljack

 

The story behind that one is that he was named early in the production cycle, before he came to resemble Wheeljack. They had already put out for trademark renewal and did up the paperwork and all that jazz, and it was only after that they decided to slap the Wheeljack-esque head on him.

But the whole figure is a G1 Wheeljack homage, not just the head.

 

not that it personally bothers me that much, it's not like I could even look at him and not think "Wheeljack" anyway.

Still, I for one am not willing to import Superlink Wheeljack just for the name. A question: Is there any difference between SL Wheeljack and E Downshift, besides their names?

Wheeljack has silver limbs instead of beige, thus making him more show accurate and G1 accurate.

I don't think the same char's should be retread over and over again for any other reason other than to keep the name around. Using the thread-author's logic, shouldn't every Steven Seagal movie feature the same name for the lead role?

Actually - what would've been REALLY cool since Nightbeat was a Blote minicon anyway -

 

Make A-Wheeljack Sideswipe. Make the minicon Wheeljack, and have him turn into a .. jack for the car. :) Another good reason he fits in the trunk anyway...

ANd make A-Sideswipe A-Nightbeat!

 

Now all i have to do is go back in time to the drawing board days for these figures to give a new alt-mode to Nightbeat/"wheeljack". hehe any fan-modes of him as a jack?
