WHY DOES HASBRO AND TAKARA MISTAKENLY NAME THE TRANSFORMERS CHARACHTERS?

Recommended Posts

And maybe Armada should have been named "The Dumbing Down of Transformers"?

I resent this additude BTW.

As much as i am NOT a fan of the A/E/C universe

I really enjloyed many of my Armada bots, and in a general sense it was the rebirth of a full on Trad. Transformers line.

Car Robots/RiD was never a real line. more like G2-Part 2.

I acknowledge that Armada has its faults but people are way to quick to dismiss its strengths.

(same goes for DW comics IMO)

IMO the strength of Armada was Supercon Optimus Prime.... and to a lesser degree, Megatron.

OKAY I ADMIT IT I LIKED ARMADA HOT SHOT

I'd even go as far to say that Armada should be given a great deal of credit for how strong the TF line is today. Snide "Pokeman" comments from the fans aside, the kids/parents who buy 90% of the Transformers seem to have loved the line (to the point that Hasbro was sent scrambling for repaints to extend it's lifetime).

It sucks that toys are for kids, doesn't it :tflaugh

My kids never played with RiD stuff for very long; it wasn't fun for them b/c it was too complicated and the robots didn't do anything cool. A/E/C stuff got a lot more consistent interest.

agreed. miniprime and Hotshot are the only armada figs i still have on display.

the only one that i think should have really been changed for energon is downshift when everything about him screamed wheeljack

The story behind that one is that he was named early in the production cycle, before he came to resemble Wheeljack. They had already put out for trademark renewal and did up the paperwork and all that jazz, and it was only after that they decided to slap the Wheeljack-esque head on him.

Others speculated that it was because the Wheeljack name had been used on an unrelated character in Armada already, but I believe Aaron Archer was the one who put the kibosh on that rumour.

heaven forbid any of the characters from A/E/C actually have any continuity whatsoever between series'

But the whole figure is a G1 Wheeljack homage, not just the head.

not that it personally bothers me that much, it's not like I could even look at him and not think "Wheeljack" anyway.
