oh and the only reason he's more iconic is because asbro/Takara, keeps changing Megatrons look every series

chicken and egg.

chicken in egg?

besides, Prime would scrap him

G1 Starscream was on to something accrdiong to his tech spec at least. He felt the Decepticons should rely more on speed and guile rather than raw strength. I cannot disagree with him there.

In the cartoon he was occasionally smarter (and more careful) than Megatron. In Dinobot Island, Megatron drained the island's power and Starscream worried that this might have a damaging effect. He also took the lightning as a bad omen which Megatron stupidly dismissed.

He was also smart enough to build in* a safety measure in case Bruticus ever decided to rebel. He knows from experience how tempting power can be and wanted to make sure his troops did not get the same idea he had. :tftongue

(How he managed THAT is a mystery because all he did was put in the personality components in those wrecks and they transformed themselves. Ah- G1 story telling. It has its flaw. But I do not mind as it is still miles above the Japanese cartoons.)

I think he could make a good leader if he just lost his arrogance.

Starscream is No.1 No.2, he'd be a No.2 No.1 though.

*votes for Shockwave*

yes, Shockwave definatly

Im not saying Starscream doesnt have his good side nor am I saying that Megatron should always be depicted as the leader, but there are better candidates, and personaly, I dont think any bt is as logical or as strategic as Shockwave

Well in the DW comic, he kind of sort of led the Decepticons...but as soon as Megs came back everyone ditched him. in the IDW books, he was on to something with the super energon...

oh and while he took the components for the combaticons...he did design them. When Devestator was formed, he said he planned for that, and thus Bruticus was unveiled. So he designed Brut

The Starscream of late have been a little lacking. I'd rather G1 or Armada Starscream.

They've both got good battle prowess, and they're clever. I see Shockwave rising to the occasion more, though.

I always felt that G1 Cyclonus would have made perfect leader for the Deceps. He showed the most clear minded out of the bunch. He was very well balanced in calculating and using gut feelings.

Shocky is smart and logical... But I can't see him making a good leader for the entire Decepticon faction. He's too uncharismatic... a little bit too evil... and he's also every bit as arrogant as Starscream. I don't see the Decepticons following him.

Making Starscream the leader of the Decepticons would turn me off of the series. Transformers needs Megatron.
