Recommended Posts

According to inside studio sources, IESB has reported that Frank Welker and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) are leading contenders for the voice of Megatron for this summer's blockbuster Transformers movie. While IESB reporter Robert Sanchez 's own sources claim that Frank Welker is "days away" from signing the piece of paper that guarantees him the job of Megatron, another "reliable source" has told Mr. Sanchez that Hugo Weaving has become a potential voice actor for the role as of two weeks ago. i can always tell which news articles are unsubstantial rumors whenever the news staff ends the topic title with a question mark.

I think I might actually prefer Weaving to Welker, although it would be cool to have both G1 leader voices.

You know...I prefer Weaving.

I mean, I can get as Nostalgia Drunk as the next guy, but I think keeping with the Optimus-is-homage-city and Megatron-is-a-blank-slate-we-get-to-create-with template that has been all of Transformers history since G1 ended will help some of the more...I'll use the word "protective"...the more protective fans see that this isn't an adaptation of the G1 cartoon into movie form, it's the next reboot, just like all the others, only in movie form.

I don't think I've heard Weaving before (never saw The Matrix).

But surely you saw LOTR?

Yes, but I'm not familiar with the names of the actors or voice actors. Care to enlighten me? :tfgrin

Ah OK, thanks. I could some what see him voicing Megs. I still think David Kaye would be the better choice. :tfevil :tfevil

Hugo Weaving would also be known as Lord Elrond from Lord of The Rings, or as "V", from V for Vendetta. And obviously Agent Smith from the Matrix.
