some of you seem to overlook an important fact. TF:The Movie was in production during Season 1, meaning that they hadn't really introduced the later combiners/gestalts, and some other beloved characters... honestly, i would've loved to see Menasaur beat down on Autobot city, but Devastator did a pretty good job at it...

I think most of them died. There was a lot of time between season 2 and the movie, a lot of time they could have died in the movie, and they could have died during season 3 but offscreen. And besides, they might just be somewhere else.

 

They weren't making the movie when they made season 1!! Why would they do that?? They didn't know it was gonna be a success. Besides, if they did that they would have had people like Ultra Magnus and Kup in there earlier, not to mention Hot Rod. They would not make a movie of something that might flop...and if they did the movie they would have set it up more in the series. They could hardly have all these ideas, and not bring out toys for them or show them in the show. Nope.

the reason so many TFormers from season two, like the other combiners, were absent from the movie is because the script for the movie was completed and set into development before the second season was on tv where the characters were introduced. I think that when season three was written. They only kept some of the newer figures in the line, and two or three classics. Everyone else, we can assume, died in the movie or events beforehand.
