SPX provides some new shots. Seeing the underside of the jet, the arm kibble doesn't bother me as much, but his head hanging off the bottom of the jet takes its place as a :tdown

But I like the robot mode even more now. :thumb

honestly? I think Energon Starscream is a better F-22 than this guy

I gotta agree w/ you there Pete. I just think it is interesting to see that they used basically the same transformation scheme for this SS that has been used since G2. Legs underneath and in the center, arms out to the sides. I thought they would come up w/ something more original than that. I do want to see how they do the torso though, that looks kinda challenging.

I do like the new pics though. SPX provides better collector-oriented pics I think.

Whoo! Sand AND black for colors!

Eh, to each his own. I see many "SS's head is up his own ass, just like Michael Bay" comments soon to appear, though.

Well, that's it. I'm officially not buying any of the movie toys unless they come out with some Alt or RiD quality autobots. I had high hopes for SS, even after seeing the prototype (which I liked), but that sand color is Blot and the alt mode looks worse than Energon SS.

do you like Rachet at least. I think he's the best fig shown so far.

You know, actually I do. I just hadn't seen the Ratchet proto yet when I posted. I'm not crazy about the colors, but the mold itself looks good. I guess my complaints about this one are similar, in that I really, really dislike the sand color they're using. I also agree with Pete - Energon SS really was a better F-22.

I do have to give them credit for incorporating the wings into the robot mode though, rather than just leaving them hanging as if to say "we really didn't know what to do with these".

And when you consider that the wings have been incorporated into the robot mode, the shape of the robot mode makes a lot more sense.

to me the bot mode is more Like a mech vehicle more than anything. I like it. Since I never cared for starscream, his personality nor his fugly color scheme to me this is a GREAT improvement!

I hope they do away with the whiny candy ass personality that has always been known as starscream. I hope this guy is colder, more intelligent and just plain brutal, oh and does not talk alot. To me this guy looks like s brute, a nice change for starscream IMO.

Oh, heaven forbid that Starscream is an actual character. :roll

If you want to see a brtual, killer robot that doesn't talk, go watch Robocop 2.

Sorry guys but let it be known, I have alwayes disliked thae character of starscream...I just could never stand the guy!

That's very understandable. He was one of my favorite G1 characters, but every time I go back and watch the G1 cartoon I can't figure out why. He was the most ineffectual, obvious, WUSS of a character ever. If you're going to plot against your tyrant leader, it's usually a good idea to not advertise your intentions every five minutes or so.

oh I just remembered why I used to like him.... he was all rebellious and stuff, and I was a 14-year-old

:emo

This is the only time I've seen a version of my favorite character and thought "No...not even with my x-acto blades, dremel tool, etc...He's beyond help." This thought is coming from a guy who gave Ultimate Battle Megs a left elbow, a hand, and some self-respect.

This is an insult to the F-22's sleek frame and no-drag internal weapons bays. But it's simply too far off the mark to be an insult to Starscream. The only kitbash possible is to change the name on the package. Enjoy your peg, Bayscream.

:tflaugh Enjoy writing in your diary tonight

This is just a small figure, the screen version should look a lot more kick-ass.

See my previous posting about our fandom being petty, fractious and childish. Diary indeed. Keep it on topic, please.

what I don't get is people calling him fat because he has an enormo-chest

wouldn't he technically just be all roided out?

but really, I can't see myself caring too much about what some $10 toy looks like. I just want to see him in the movie.

Hey, now, the internet's not a place to voice well-thought out opinions. "Fat" is a lazy way to voice displeasure about Starscream, just like "Bionicle" references and "Flames on Prime = Nipples on Batman." You want well thought-out opinions from people, you take it someplace else, mister. :tftongue

FYI my kids have a bunch of Bionicles..... and they look kickass

so any comments about movie TFs looking like Bionicles are a good thing to me. Like I've said before, the G1 TFs represent cartoon robot design from the 1980's. The movie TFs represent live-action robot design from, like, now and stuff.

sljkhdsalhjlkjdklaj!!!!! they're not called "Bioncles"!! they're "Bionicle sets". sorry. that's a pet peeve of mine. my bionicle collection is also really vast and i like the look of the sets, but i cant like this starscream. he looks more like a guy in a fatsuit now thanks to the head. but he sure doesnt look cool. THAT'S for sure

should've done the F-18, Bay!

incorporating the wings into robot mode was always fine. and every previous screamer had it. they were mounted on his back to be used as wings for his bot mode. that was the best method and kept him from looking horribly fat and top heavy

You're missing the point. Wings hanging off the back = not incorporated into the bot mode. This Screamer's wings make up part of the torso, remove them, and you're left with big gaping holes. Cut the wings off any other SS, and you've still got a fully functional body.

Saying they were used as functional wings for the bot mode would only work if every other Decepticon without wings couldn't fly around in bot mode. But they could, rendering Starscream's wings functionless kibble.
