Beast Wars deserved a better sequel.

IMO Beast MAchines could have killed the TF Franshise stone dead if it didnt have some interesting episodes and a decent if flawed story line.

The toys were crap the whole organic thing was crap, Nightscream sucked balls and the highlight for me was the statue of G1 Prime

Bob Skir you are an arse head

thats sad.

but true

well it's "true"-ly your opinion, how about that

Although I must say I don't watch BM as a continuation of G1 or even BW. I watch it for what it offers on its own.

Take it away from the TF continuity and its a quality series that I watched religiously on Fox Kids at Tea time without fail but as a TF related line its to left field for me, but then apart from arrival from cybertron and a few other episodes G1 was pretty poor aswell.

Its just my opinion and nothing more :)

The reason why I kept going on about Rhinox being stuck in Tankor's body is because I do believe that Megatron used a "Vehicon shell program", among other things, to control his generals. Megatron removed Silverbolt's code of honor, as you said. That is a perfect example of what a shell program (as I understand it, a construct imposed upon a robot that filters, blocks, and or amplifies impulses from its spark) can do. Megatron was able to completely block anything noble or honorable that came from Silverbolt's spark. And when Jetstorm's body was destroyed, everything within it, including that shell program, was destroyed. Silverbolt was able to emerge again. This never happened with Tankor. His logic circuits weren't scrambled at all. He was Rhinox, acting through Tankor's programming. The difference from before is that Rhinox had "awoken" within Tankor and was no longer passively observing everything that Tankor was doing.

I guess I'm just saying that Rhinox and Jetstorm were in two very different situations.

:pfx I concur 1000x.

Beast Machines was an awesome series. It put a nice twist on the TF universe, and and can stand up for itself as a great scifi series.

this thread makes me want to finish the BM series.

:redface

(sorry i totally pooped out after the chicken dude returned and we had this unending NOBLE SAVAGE ordeal)

noble/savage ends after a few episodes.

You should get the DVD set. You'll find out such wonderful things like:

A. It's Hasbro's fault the series went all spiritual. They encouraged Bob Skir on this.

B. The original series concept is by Marv Wolfman, one of the writers of TF:TM. Yes, one of the men responsible for Unicron is also partially responsible for BM. Bob Skir took the concept and ran with it, he didn't originate it.

OMG teh logic!!

Yeah, it seems that the hatred towards Skir is not as justified as it once was thought to be, if you can trust what he says that is.

Marv Wolfman is also known for a little thing called "Crisis on Infinite Earths" FYI.

He came up with the idea for the Vehicons and the basic show premise. Hasbro wanted a spiritually themed Transformers show, since they were in love with the "spark" concept at the time. However I would definitely not say it was Hasbro's "fault", as though that was a problem with the show or anything. Anyway, even if you did take that view, the fact is that it's Bob Skir who took the show in the specific direction it went in. A "spiritual" Transformers show could have meant a bunch of different things. Heck, half of Furman's stuff has spiritual under/overtones.

And The New Teen Titans, and the third robin. I felt that was info that was kinda useless ot the topic. ;)

edit: as for the Hasbro's fault thing... I was oversimplifying on purpose.

That's why I hate when people accuse BM of being too "spiritual" and "deep" for Transformers. Simon Furman, the man most Transfans praise for being such a unique author of TF history, often wrote "spiritual" and "deep."
