Transformers Live Action Movie Featurette

Recommended Posts

Youtube user "paramountprice" has put up a video from The Transformers: The Movie 20th Anniversary DVD that includes the announcement trailer we saw this past summer with a minute featurette for the Transformers live action movie following right after it. The featurette includes snippets of scenes that were filmed, including the 1974 Chevrolet Camaro, the Shelby Mustang, the desert scene where the military fights Scorponok, and a good share of explosions. The featurette also gives a little peak of storyboards and early frame designs of the CGI Transformers. Read more.

It really is a big thing for Youtube right now: copyrighted material. There are many companies who asked for Youtube to take down their material, and then there are companies contemplating what to do with that copyright material: take it down, or leave it to create hype.

You are right that everybody and their mother has something up that's copyrighted on youtube, and that probably is what makes it the most successful, that things you've seen somewhere are now readily available on the website.

I don't understand why you posted the TFW2005 link. Although I don't know Spacebridge if he doesn't work for Youtube, he can't really first-handedly delete the videos. As a video is taken down by Youtube, somebody else who saved it puts it back up. So is the way the internet goes.

copyrighted or not, thats was cool

i swear, the movie will tank because these little featurettes never show what the robots look like so there's nothing to pique the intrest of the average movie goer. they'll look at this and say "Oh, it's just another generic action movie" and dismiss it.

:wtf Dude...there's nine months left before release...the average movie goer isn't even thinking about this movie right now, much less trying to see the robot designs.

And, lets face facts - a featurette on a DVD of a twenty year old cartoon isn't exactly aimed at the average movie goer, so saying that it lacks what the average movie goer wants to see in their summer blockbuster advertisement is kind of a no-brainer.

What it lacks is what YOU want to see. YOU want to see the robot designs. We all do. But when it comes to this movie, anyone signed up on this board is automatically removed from the "average movie goer" list.

Not to go off on you, Y2K...I honestly don't mind movie nay-saying, but it needs to be backed up by some logic and rational thought. Its fine that you want to see the movie designs, and you're getting impaitent, I feel you. And, honestly, I understand the complaint on an emotional level. But don't try and hide that gripe behind some sort of "this is what the rest of the world wants and the filmmakers are wrong for not putting it out there yet" shield. Let's be fair to the filmmakers.

If they showed the robots it would destroy the surprise, which sadly already has been for us. They didn't show the Alien in the Alien promos, its the same sort of thing. And really all the average movie goer has seen at this point, if anything is the teaser which doesn't even make it look like an action movie at this point. Personally I think they are going in the right direction with marketing this movie.

And you called me out for being negative the other day. :P

If you want to sell someone something, you're not going to let them see the best parts before they buy it. It's all about anticipation and creating interest. That's just basic marketing.

but come on, they showed Venom and Sandman in the Spiderman 3 teaser trailer even if they didn't show clear shots of them. there was enough there to hint at them without given away too much. what Bay is doing is basicly like scientology: "We won't tell you anything unless you give us your money"
