If I had to guess, I'd be thinking that Hasbro might be reluctant to sell MP Starscream only because of perceived fragility issues. (and of course the cost/benefit ratio when it comes to selling expensive niche market figures)

Personally, I'm WAY stoked to hear this, and I'm even kind of looking forward to an oversized version-- might be fun.

 

PLUS, I've never (and probably about 99% of the fandom too) seen a P-38 in real life so you could tell me the real version is 10 feet tall and I'd believe you.

 

 

What I'd really like to know, and it's interesting noone has mentioned this yet, what's the die cast content going to be???????

I would love for the housing to be metal-- it would add all the more realism to the alt mode-- but if it's just the legs or something I'd be happy. I really really really really don't want another all-plastic MP. Screamer was a big let down and there's enough metal on prime to think that putting some on Megs would be called for. .... I want to be able to recycle my megs for money at the scrap yard if I wanted.... :fire

G1 Megs didn't have all that much metal on him aside from the frame, right?

Yeah, but I don't see adding it as something bad. G1 Screamer had it in his chest and feet, right? By your logic, he should have had it in his MP mold.

 

Look, it's not an obsession of mine, but I can see it in megs being super cool. He's a gun. guns are made of metal. That is a lot more accessible of an idea to the senses than a Semi or a plane. Not too many people have touched a jet fighter, nor a big truck (which has tons of composite paneling). Most people have touched a gun or a BB gun at some point.

 

Giving megs a bunch of die cast would really add to the tactiile experience of him. When/if you ever get MPSS, pete, you'll feel the percieved difference between him and Prime through thier weight. Prime is heftier, more solid feeling, and to me and I'm sure many others it adds to the emotional value of the toy. Prime FEELS like a masterpiece, worthy of $100.... SS, on the other hand, does not.

 

Look, I know you don't think there should be metal on every TF, and in the same vein many fans think there should... I actually don't, and feel the classics line is absolutely perfect w/o metal.

 

HOWEVER, seeing as how megs is going to be a gun, this is a *masterpiece* line, and nothing feels quite like having a big dangerous piece of cold hard steel in your hands, I think it would be fitting to have a pretty good amount of metal on him.

Yeah I know.... I'm not down on it or anything, I just know that metal is painted and paint gets chipped. I'm personally not a big fan of that.

 

I mean, even though Megatron's alt mode is a gun, they'd still have to paint it since the type of metal they use in TFs isn't exactly pretty looking.

Or they could chrome it.

 

Honestly, I've had my Prime for years now and I only have one *small* paint chip next to the horns/lights/whatevertheyars on the top of the cab, and this is after him dropping from the desk 3 times.

 

Nothing you can see while he's displayed.
