Personally, I am glad that Joel is at least trying to accomodate the fans by providing this. Yeah, he is trying not to lose some major $$ by skipping this release, but he is also trying to provide for his long-time customers as well.

 

Sure, I would much rather not have to deal w/ removing the orange plug or taking off the orange paint, but I am sure that w/in hours of release, someone will have a way to safely do just that.

 

I trust Joel and BBTS and I think that for the time being anyway, I am going that route and already pre-ordered Megs. Besides, I can't remove the orange tip or if the modifications ever bother me, I can always buy a non-modified replacement if they truly are readily available later.

Was checking out Seibertron.com's article about BBTS' MP-05 Megatron import and looked at the actual page for the product on the site here

 

The figure looks decent, unless that's a blackend photo of a hand drawn Megatron and I'm being fooled.

 

As for the orange cap, hmmm...while it'll make it easier to import, I see two ways around this once it's in the hands of the owner.

 

If they glue it, just apply something that'll loosen the glue and pop off the cap and clean any glue residue left over.

 

If they paint it on, just go to a hobby shop, find a color that matches it either as close as possible or exactly and paint over it.

as for them changing the toy... no i dont like the idea sure it might help with the importing but i dont like the idea of some one else messing around with my toys befor i get ahold of it even if its to make it legal

That's Blot. I don't have a problem with them adding a removable cap, but they don't have any business making permanent modifications to the figure, least of all painting it. I'll wait for another toy store to do this right.
