Cheap Energon Optimus Prime?

If repaints that a portion of the fanbase buys funds the development of things like Alternators/Binaltech and leads to better figures down the line that literally get stripped bare from the shelves then I don't see the big deal.

Also keep in mind that all these figures you see warming the shelves were ordered per assortment by the store. There isn't one unit you see there that the store didn't buy wholesale.

If you don't like the recolors (and naturally, you're not obligated to) then don't buy 'em! Nothing catches attention like not using the money burning a whole in your wallet. There's never been another time when we've had so much variety with the franchise, so just pick and choose. Nonetheless, if it makes them money which will translate to more transformers (even the occasional more palatable repaint) then more power to them! It's been their demented distribution which has pissed in my vinegar more than the fact that they repaint.

I agree. Hasbro has some flaws in the execution of their toy related affairs. Greed though... You could say the same thing of any institution out to make money. The fact is that this practice of repainting is as old as the hills and it helped to seriously to put the books back in the black. They may have taken this into account and if not, they will when Robot Masters is unleashed. Not to say that Takara isn't guilty of the same exact thing, but the Robot Masters might wake them up depending on the sales and how much domestic pressure is put on Hasbro to make the line available.

Speak with your wallet and you will be heard, that's how business goes. Tell them exactly why you won't purchase their products and then give them a detailed account of what you'd rather see and you'll probably see more satisfactory results. That is of course, if the current product doesn't sell. So far, things seem to keep selling and sell pretty well. Hasbro ain't circling the drain and they're products are vast and broad so in the hopes of keeping things that way one might expect a repaint or five. I mean, it's one thing to point out impending doom, but this doom you speak of is far from impending.

first here, i'm not talking about repaints. NEVER was. i'm talking in general of the growing amount of toys that are starting to back up on toy shelves all over. (especially many of the higher priced ones) and we haven't even got to the repaints yet!

this line probably already has more higher priced figures ($20+) than any other line i can remember since g1, and theres still more to come. economically it's a bad time for a lot of people. like i said before parents can't afford to spend as much to buy their kids higher priced toys these days, and that is the #1 target for them. selling large amounts of them at sale and eventually clearance prices can't be good for the bottom line for anyone.

there is such a thing as biting off more than they can chew.

stores place the orders i know and it's hasbro's job to fill them to the best they can. all i'm saying is that it's not a bad idea for hasbro to proceed in moderation to ensure that the line remains a profitable one in the future. sure they can pump out extraordinary numbers and take advantage of the high orders now, but if a great deal of those figures only sell at sale or clearance prices then in the future stores likely won't order as many. the tf sections in stores could get smaller and smaller and hasbro could end up prodcuing huge amounts of tf's expecting the big orders that won't come, or stores could cancel orders leaving them in a bad spot.

then what happens is the future lines probably won't be as good and many of the bread and butter fans will lose interest, which would obviously hurt a lot of us who've been here from the start.

nothing wrong with going by the old motto: "always leave them wanting more"!

I agree with you Madman, I also think Hasbro is producing too many high priced items. In addition to the large number of variety of different items, I also think that Hasbro is overproducing many of these (Unicron is a prime example, as is the current megas).

I think one of the areas this started was in Armada. The removal of the $15 pricepoint and the standardization of the $20 was, in hindsight, a bad move. One of the things that made the original $20 ultras sell well was how obvious it was that more effort was put into their design (due to price). This trend has repeated itself as the $25/$30 ultras are generally better than the mega pricepoint (and it seems sales have reflected that as Tidal Wave and Landmine seem to have sold very well). I don't think that the required addition of electronics has really effected sales in the megas, and I think that the current design team could do some neat stuff with a $15 pricepoint, and possibly just remove the $20 pricepoint and reduced the number of $25 and up releases.

everyone just calm down! anyways, i see E- Prime, Ironhide, and Jet fire everywhere, they need to get rid of ironhide, im getting tired of seeing that foolio...i thought they should've made Ironhide a deluxe figure instead of mega, or whatever they call the sizes of them now a days, he looks funny...

there's a lot of dope Energon figures though, buy what you can! haha or you'll regret it later...

hey thanks guys. Here's a lil tip for anyone living near a meijer. I was at my local one the other day and they have E. Prime on clearance for $34.80. I know not much of a diff. BUT every now and then Meijer will have 25% off coupons on clearance items. I'm still waiting get my E. Unicron who is also on CLearance for $38.40. However, if I find out that someone used my idea against me and snatched both E. Prime & Unicron from me. You better beleive I'll be coming for you.

I know this has nothing to do w/ tfs, but forgive me. I'm trying to find a website that has a list of all the older spiderman toys from the animated series and all. Can anyone help me out?
