But then they would "recognize" you...and give you the hairy eyeball! and not give you your free toys!

I guarantee you that, if you did just that, they would not have cared at all. If you had bought one set of figures, left, and came back like ten minutes later, you could have had them all with no trouble.

Good job sticking to your guns. FYI, If you had just had them ring them up without saying anything the computer would have done it automatically, and you can bet that noone would have said anything. Who at TRU is going to fight the computer to screw a customer unless they REALLY don't like you.

P

I work for a Toys "R" Us, and I'll tell you all this right now.

Look in the Ad and on the sign. If neither say anything about 1 per customer, the register will acknowledge how many you bought and adjust for the sale accordingly. Don't bother confusing the cashiers or asking managers as it will complicate the transaction as the story clearly explained.

The only time they will use the 1 per customer rule is when something is likely to cause panic, mass hysteria, and outdoor voices indoors, such as Tamagotchi, TMX Elmo, etc.

When I bought my classics a few days ago I saw no such promotion... *sadface*

Now I can see a reason for getting a cell phone. Good job kicking that guys pompus ego all up and down the register lane.

I wish that worked for their Buy two get one free.

My birthday, of all days, I find Titanium. Thundercracker and Jetfire and Smokescreen. I wanted to go "Jetfire+Smokescreen=Free Thundercracker" when I got to the register, I purposely handed her each bot to scan in order to confirm the sell, however the computers (DAMN TECHNOLOGY! DAMN THE MATRIX!) had the lesser of equal value as the freebie. SO instead of shaving off a few bucks, I pay for both Titaniums...

That's not how it works. Anytime you see a buy 2 get 1 free sale where you are dealing with different price points then you will always get the cheapest one free. Order in which it was rung up has nothing to do with it.

That's why when I usually come across that sale, I ALWAYS try to make sure to get equal valued figures to make sure I'm getting my money's worth.

For example, one time I got a Cybertron Prime and Megs and got another Megs free. Now I had Prime already, so I sold the Pime and one of the Megs on ebay and basically ended up with a free Megatron. I did that with several other figures, so a lot of my Cybertron collection I basically got for free.

I also got E-Unicron that way. Didn't cost me a dime. :thumb The only thing is if I'm buying 3 scouts and 3 deluxes for example, I will break them up so I don't end up getting 2 free scouts instead of 1 and 1.

Back on topic, I've never had any problems with TRU and any supposed limits on their sales. The register does know what's going on and it would have taken off the appropriate amounts automatically. It seems to me the original poster probably wouldn't have had any problem if they had never said anything from the start.

Yeah....it's not like there's some magic involved. When the sales roll around, the registers get the sale programs sent and loaded into them electronically. It's a computer program guys....there no way to "trick" it, and like said above, there's no reason to tell anyone about it. It'll work.

thats total pwnage right there. glad u won. that manager was really bent on giving them up to u coz he probably wanted a set for himself

That Tr'U manager sounded like a prick to me. Props on that WICKED BURN he's suffering :tflaugh !

i thought i had posted in this thread... i guess i didn't
