And that is part of the problem with the law.

Do not get me wrong, there should be laws and I respect them and all that. (I had better since I actually work at a courthouse. :tftongue )

But still, I think it is just plain wrong for people to be able to buy poison like that. Cigarettes should be outlawed right this second. Sadly the governent does not because it brings in money. (Fortunately, they are trying to ban it from public life as much as possible and I am all for that.)

Heck, as far as I am concerned alcohol should also be banned as well given all the problems it causes.

Not to mention fire arms. Anyone (over 18) in the US can own and carry a firearm. If I were a US citizen I could keep a gun in my house even if I had little children running around. I do not even think I would be required by law to keep it in a case. So gun-related accidents are quite frequent too.

Not to mention the amount of crimes comitted at gun point. Still, people are allowed to purchase a fire arms simply because it is in the US constitution. Which may have worked fine then but these are different times.

So to summarize, it is legal for people to drink alcohol which kills thousands of braincells and which destroy's one's liver, smoke cigarettes that will probably lead to lung cancer and own fire arms that can either splatter your own or someone else's brain all over the place (the latter only applies to the US and perhaps a few other countries) but it is not legal for me to own a replica of a gun? (Which is basically harmless.)

That does sound a little weird at first. But even though I would love to see Megatron reissued, the logical part of my brain realized why it is not possible.

Say a child did get ahold of him, started running around and aimed it at a police officer who would immediately shoot him. That would be a huge tragedy.

If not reissuing Megatron would save just one life (by preventing such a tragedy), it would be more than worth it because nothing is worth a human life. (Criminials, pedophines and people like that do not count.)

But keeping that in mind, I cannot comprehend why alcohol and cigarettes are still sold. Should that not be outlawed as well?

well, i'm glad we can have funs and i'm certainly glad we can choose wether or not to smoke and/or drink alchohol. matter of fact i support the legalization of recreational drugs, which i feel would not only save the govt money (make it for 'em too as they could easily tax it ala cigarettes) but save lives (no more violence over drugs, yay).

seriousness aside, replica guns are NOT illegal in the US, esp when they are targeted toward adults. most are airguns, like bb guns and paintball guns. only thing is you gotta have that orange cap so that they are easily identifiable as replica's and airguns and could not be mistaken for the real thing. also for automatic antique guns to be sold they must have the firing mechanism removed unless you have a liscense of somesort allowing you to buy the firing mechanism. with that in mind if hasbro would market g1 megs to collectors instead of kids, and placed an orange cap on the end (and scope) the way they did classics megs, we'd be home free. you can see replicas and antiques sold at MANY weapons shops, even online. the only issue i could see is that some replica guns cannot be shipped to certain states. replica guns cannot be shipped to NY, NJ, PA, or MA, while automatic and shotgun styles cannot be shipped to CT, CA, DE, FL, IL, MA, ME, NJ, NYC, PA or DC. i'm not familiar with the laws of said states, but i beleive it revolves around having to have a liscense to purchase said weapons, but like i said i'm not sure.

You do raise an interesting point Buddykiller. Over here serious addicts are given free drugs so they will not cause any trouble. So your idea has at least some merit.

But it is a very difficult issue indeed and if you do not mind I am going to leave it at that. I fear that otherwise this arguement could go on forever and I doubt that would be wise.

I would also like to live in a world where alcohol and tobacco did not exist or were illegal, but sadly it's an impossible dream because alcohol and tobacco are too far ingrained in our culture to remove.

Imagine for a moment if alcohol and tobacco never existed. Humour me and just imagine it for a moment... now imagine if tomorrow, some corporation just invented alcohol and tobacco smoking and tried to convince any industrialised nation's government to allow for its production and sales. Our leaders would tell that company to get Powerglideed! And there would be massive protests against that company for even suggesting such a Powerglideing stupid idea!! Boo! If any developing nation tried it, they might face international repurcussions like trade embargoes.

...but sadly, we do not live in such a world. I like that episode of The Family Guy where there's a flashback of Ireland before the invention of alcohol, and they're all living in this futuristic paradise. Then some dumb Blot (I believe it was Peter Griffin's ancestor) invents alcohol and the whole place goes to hell. d:

I also agree that the US law that gives everyone the right to bear arms is silly and outmoded for this modern day and age. But at the same time, I reckon the US would sooner have a second civil war before surrendering that right to shoot at Amish schoolkids.

BuddyKiller: Airguns and BB guns are outright illegal here. I believe paintball guns are also illegal for most folks, the only people I've ever heard of possessing a paintball gun are people who professionally run paintball skirmish businesses. We have the same orange cap law for toy guns too. Blecch. Just look at what that law did to Classics Megatron... ewww..

death333: you know that Headmasters, Targetmasters and Powermasters are all G1 right? G1 ran from 1984-1993.

That does sound a little weird at first. But even though I would love to see Megatron reissued, the logical part of my brain realized why it is not possible.

Say a child did get ahold of him, started running around and aimed it at a police officer who would immediately shoot him. That would be a huge tragedy.

That's not an issue with the Japanese reissue since:

1/ All their reissues are marketed at older collectors, not kids.

2/ Most Japanese police officers are unarmed when on duty anyway (the joys of living in the second safest country on the planet). ;p

Let's face it, all smokers started smoking when they were kids - typically as teenagers. If you'd never smoked a single cigarette in your life until the age of 18, you are quite unlikely to ever take up smoking as an adult, cos it's just such a stupid habit to take up. Only kids are stupid enough to do it, so it's best to target them, because once they get hooked as kids, they'll continue to smoke as adults. I've never met an adult smoker who would recommend smoking to a non-smoker. These are addictions that they acquired in their youth. Kids are a much more vulnerable market, and tobacco companies have to lobby their merchandise at the youth market because that is the critical age at which they have to get them hooked on smoking. Once they hit adulthood, if they haven't taken up smoking, then it's effectively too late.

You're completely wrong.

I started smoking just before I was 21 for reasons I don't care to explain.

Mr.Right

First name "Always" :roll

Read an article on Japan awhile back and the Japanese consider stealing to be dishonarable so very little chances of that happening there either. But it is amazing indeed that police officers do not even have to carry firearms.

(Really gives me hope that humanity still has a chance.)

The problem is indeed that the governments collect those taxes and would never fully outlaw such things even if the world would indeed be better without them.

I saw an interview on TV with a woman who was in the European government, who thought that was odd. If it had not been now, then cigarettes would never be allowed to be sold. But because it exists for years, they will continue to allow it.

Still, it not a recent discovery that tabacco is bad. Back in 1940 the Nazi's already knew that tobacco was bad and that it was most likely responsible for lung cancer. Since they did that research in the hopes of creating ubermenschen, it has been ignored for a long time but it is still true.

But I doubt that cigarettes will ever be made illegal. Fortunately smoking in most public places is no longer allowed and it is a good thing too because I cannot stand smoke. I do not mind if people smoke but I do not want to breathe in that smoke myself.

Weapons are a similar story. The weapon lobby is huge and invests a lot of money in the White House so no president would dare to outlaw fire arms. But hopefully he will require people to store them safely so that kids cannot get to them.

In the Netherlands firearms are also forbidden unless one has a license. (Which are not easy to get for obvious reasons.) And I am pretty sure that gun owners have to lock it up if they are not using it.

Replica's are not allowed either and I could get a 250 Euro fine for owning one. However in Spain one can easily buy such replica's for really low prices.

They looked pretty darn cool and truth to be told, if I would have been able to take one with me then I probably would. As long as I would just keep it in my house, there would be no problem. But it bothers me that some countries try to protect small children by preventing those to be sold while others just tolerate it.

On a personal note, I am not too fond of the colors on classics Megatron either but it is better than having another tank Megatron.

I also agree that the US law that gives everyone the right to bear arms is silly and outmoded for this modern day and age. But at the same time, I reckon the US would sooner have a second civil war before surrendering that right to shoot at Amish schoolkids.

You clearly don't understand the point of the 2nd amendment. Big Brother would be pleased.

Back on topic though, has anyone at all entertained the possibility that Tomy was a driving force behind the line's cancellation?

Have them reissue both ratchet and ironhide again. They already did it once, why don't they just add them to their takara reissue series.

You're completely wrong.

I started smoking just before I was 21 for reasons I don't care to explain.

You're the first person I've ever encountered who's ever taken up smoking in adulthood. But even then, I'd say you're the exception rather than the norm -- the majority of smokers take up the habit in their youth.

You clearly don't understand the point of the 2nd amendment. Big Brother would be pleased.

Yes, heaven forbid that I might be ignorant about the laws of a foreign country...

Have them reissue both ratchet and ironhide again. They already did it once, why don't they just add them to their takara reissue series.

Now that's the smartest thing anyone's said for the last page of posts. ;P

Of course, you need to be sure to forward your request to Takara via their survey cards/site. I've requested Ironhide/Ratchet before in previous survey cards that I have returned to them.

Remember kids, keep filling out them surveys!! It's your only chance of directly requesting future reissues to Takara!!

They reissued every Transformer from the first 2 seasons save for the ones of which the mold is missing.

Since Ironhide and Ratchet are not among those releases I can say it is safe to say that those molds are also gone.
