Hey guys. I have to agree with all of you. I'm 28 as well and am just getting BACK into collection TF's from about a 10-15 year hiatus. I feel you're never too old to do anything that you enjoy. I have a fiancee who understands my interest in them but knows that bills and life come first, as do I. So as long as you keep the priorities straight, there's nothing to concern yourself with. :thumb

Wierd..the idea of being "too old" for much of anything gives me the creeps. I just turned 30, and I think as long as it's a hobby that nicely integrates into your life, then have fun.

Now, if you spend ALL your time and money on TFs so that you havent had female companionship in years, drive a Pinto even though your income says you can afford a 350Z, and generally are to transfandom what trekkies are to Star Trek, then you got issues.

I dont care how old you are, at what point a hobby that brings you a proportionate amount of enjoyment turns into an obsession that eclipses other more relevant things in your life you need to re-evaluate. Same thing as the difference between someone who likes a beer or glass of scotch to relax vs. a raging alcoholic.

*Drops his 2 cents in the jar*

I do enjoy it, besides it is my wifes fault to certain degree since she always asks me if im going to buy something new for my collection whenever we go shopping.

Dude, that's awesome about your wife. Mine is similarly encouraging (though she did roll her eyes at the "talking Optimus Prime" mouth thingy on my 20th Anniversary figure... :tflaugh1 ).

I'm 31 (er... right? yeah) and have two kids (boys -- 5 and 1). I spent way too many years feeling like a big loser for liking TFs so much, and would try to tell myself every now and then that I was too old for them. Which would lead to compulsive purchases, followed by "that was stupid" thoughts later on, and I'd get rid of them b/c I was just being immature for liking them, bla bla bla.

Needless to say, that wasn't very healthy. But I think something happens once you hit your 30's -- you find that you don't care anymore about a lot of the silly things you used to be so worried about. And I found out that my self-consciousness about TFs was just that -- SELF-consciousness. None of my friends or family or co-workers cared that I collected toys. As a matter of fact, my guy friends have been known to turn into a bunch of nine-year-old boys when they see my toy collection.

Bottom line: it's got to be FUN for you. Life's too short to be old and boring, ya know?

P.S. BTW, if you ever have boys, you can just forget about "outgrowing" TF collecting. Fortunately, my son is cool about sharing his toys with Daddy... :tfgrin

Yeah, as long as you take care of the important things first, ie: Bills, food, children, WIFE!!!! if you have anything left, it's yours to do with as you please, just remember to take care of your wife first, a little bribe never hurts :D

Like everyone else has said, as long as you keep up with your other responsibilities, and you enjoy collecting, why stop?

Thad is right though, a bribe thrown in the wife's direction never hurts. :tftongue

I'm 28, married, with a three year-old son. Yeah, I'm probably too old for Transformers, but I enjoy collecting them, so who cares? My wife did the rolly eye thing about the talking mouthpiece on 20th ann. Prime too. I craked up when I read that. It's tough keeing the boy away from them. I let him push the car modes around the floor sometimes, but I almost have a heart attack watching him!

I let him play with my transforming Buzz Lightyear, and he broke it's head off! I bought him a cheap transformers rip-off (cheap, buts its almost completly die-cast and solid as a rock!) so he gets to play with that whenever he wants.

I have really enjoyed reading this thread! :tflaugh

Count me in as another collector who's 33, "too old" and still enjoys collecting anyway. I'll probably keep it up until I just don't enjoy it any more, or else I reach my saturation point. I can't see selling my collection off though. Even when I stop collecting, I'll keep what I have. Probably give some of it to the kids and grandkids years down the road.

Although in my case, I almost have all the ones I wanted, so I've slowed down a bit. And being married with a daughter on the way, one has to watch those expenses... first things first!

I guess I'll have to buy a cabinet to lock up the TFs so she won't chew them up when she gets mobile, eh?

collecting TFs is not a sin or something like that, keep collecting and when you have kids you can give to them and pass the collection to future generation.... I am just 17 and they think that i am kind of a strange guy that think like a 5year old or something, but when i talk to you guiy i see the world the is far way CEIBERTRON where we all belong... life is short enyoy.....

well i'm still young and all so i gonna keep collcting till i atleast retire or somthing which i maybe the age of 60 or somthing i may need a son to carry on the legacy

TRANSFORMERS FOREVER!!!!!!
