Alternator Alt modes taking a turn for the better

there aren't that many corvette z06's... that should be considered an 'exotic' car, mazdaspeed rx8 isn't even a production car, granted mazda did make one for their tokyo auto salon to show off to the public but mazdaspeed offers the body kit seperately... the mazdaspeed rx8 should be there as well. u have to define what u mean by 'exotic' cuz ur confusing alot of people

2500 dodge ram rt10's are being produced so that should be 'exotic' as well.

The problem with those as exotics is they all based on relatively common cars, so while they may be a bit more rare, so are manual transmition honda accords, but that doesn't make them exotic. To your point, I define my creteria above.

I live near a military base and lots of the GI's have fancy cars. There's a few RX-8's, Z06 Vettes, and all of the cars listed are rather common in my area, sans the Ford GT.

Locally, one dealership has had around 5 SRT-10 rams pass through them since they introduced that model. Something curious I read is that they actually use the heavy duty frame (to fit the V-10), just shortened for this model.

How anyone in my area can afford one is beyond me.... I guess they had one for over a year.... unless they sold it and got another silver one.

u place the wrc sti as a 'superexotic car' category, which is based off the impreza wrx/sti chassis which isn't exactly a rare car either :punch

anyhoo i agree with DN that mirage is one of the best alts... hastak has come a long way since smokescreen and it seems to get better all the time.

who's the Civic Si?

rumble/frenzy apparently.

If we see McLaren and Mercedes CLK-GTR molds, then we'll talk exotic.

I figured someone would say that... It's exotic because it's not even available for purchase and it's very loosely based on the road WRX, ita a full on race car and basically every part is different on the race version.

BTW I'm just refering to the alt modes. Optimus Prime is probably the worst alt yet, and ravage looks like it migh be questionalbe.

I'm surprised how well everyone takes Mirages goofy wheel-knees, but so far he really has the most exotic alt mode....it rules

Amen, brother. I mean heck, the GT-40 is still just a Ford. :usa

First off, I'm fine with the Alts being cars you "see in the parking lot." They're supposed to be robots in disguise, afterall, and the Alternator line does strive for realism.

As for the alts themselves, they hit a rough patch around Prime and the 3rd repaints, but the Ford GT indicates to me that we're backing off that trend and heading back towards high accuracy and high articulation, rather than just high accuracy.

Though I did hear a lot of people having issues with quality control. My Optimus Prime is not perfect either (fortunately my Nemesis Prime is) so I am slightly worried about Mirage. But I definetely plan to pick him up as he looks awesome!

If you really wanna get nitpicky, the CLK-GTR is still just a Mercedes... you know, the same guys that make taxis and utility trucks for use in Europe. :tflaugh

Anyways, from dictionary.com:

ex‧ot‧ic  [ig-zot-ik]

–adjective

1. of foreign origin or character; not native; introduced from abroad, but not fully naturalized or acclimatized: exotic foods; exotic plants.

2. strikingly unusual or strange in effect or appearance: an exotic hairstyle.

3. of a uniquely new or experimental nature: exotic weapons.

Keeping in mind that A. these toys were designed in Japan and B. locality doesn't necessarily determine "exoticness" (is a Testarossa any less exotic just because it's seen in Italy?), I'd say that the only exotics in the line up to this point are the Viper and the GT40, with the Vette being a kinda-maybe-prolly-not. The SRT-10 and the Mazdaspeed are just uncommon versions of common cars, and the WRX, while being a complete rebuild, it's still just a "variant," so to speak. (For example, would a NASCAR Monte Carlo be considered exotic?) I'll admit that I know next to nothing about Jags, so I won't place that in either camp, though I'm leaning towards "no." :tflaugh Everything else is just your run-of-the-mill 4-wheeled transportation. :thumb
