TF Movie Images

Hmm... those pictures look a little... too CG. They're way too shiny to be placed in a real world setting. Plus, something seems off about the faceplate on Prime's head.

Actually, it looks to me like they're pics of the maquette. CGI companies always make maquettes of all of the characters before they model them. It helps, not only the modeler by creating a 3D reference to look at, but also the lighting people to see how the maquette reacts to different lighting conditions, dust, smoke, and other forms of debris. That could explain the general “plastic like quality of the models. Also if you look at the hand, you can tell it’s one solid peace, if it were a render, even a low quality one, they would defiantly model each individual finger joint. In fact, it doesn’t look to me as if any of the joints actually work.

If it is the maquette for Prime, I’m cool with it. It’s pretty close to what I was expecting, although I hope the face doesn’t look as weird as that fill-in pic.

Hey... wasn't Bay on record as saying that the flaming decals on Optimus were in a 'context' or somesuch?

All I'm thinking is, ILM are definately coming up with a different sort of aesthetic for the TFs - and although the leaked shot of Bumblebee hasn't inspired many fans, one would still hope that Bay et al. are trying to update the original look of these guys, rather than totally overhaul them.

That being the case; perhaps the flames on Optimus were for a specific scene, or a singular part of the movie? And if that were so, then the case for these being fan-made shots would be that much stronger (i.e. the artist would be unaware that the flames are not, in fact, part of the final model.)

Having said that, some of this is wishful thinking - I'm trying to have faith in Michael Bay here, and there's a lot of negativity flying around based on the most cursory and slender shreds of evidence. Conversely, we can try to understand Bay's desire to keep the TFs under wraps; however, politely, if there is any one group (outside of Hasbro) that *ought* to be consulted on the design work - it's the fans.

So... here's hoping that, at best, this is fan art - and at worst, is official - but not the final end product. :)

Hopes Prime will have MP face and this helmet.

I am loving that prime; those pics are really getting me pumped for the movie!

I like the top half of Primes head not the bottom it looks weird, i'am also loveing how whomever did his hand.

neather-a-less all very good.

CGI can also mean Computer Generated Image so deal.

The perfect kind of ownage. Just remember robotsongs, acronyms can stand for many things. :P

I wonder how tight Hasbro will have security regarding the toys. Will we see prototypes or will we actually be surprised?

The perfect kind of cockandballs....

Check out all those search results and you tell me what comes up first.... rather on the first 10 PAGES!.

...And remember, retard can also mean slow down. :thumb :tfevil

on topic, this art isn't very slow. quite the opposite. ;)

Good job making yourself look like an ass.

Computer Generated Imagery shows up on the first or second page. It may not be the most common use, but it's still there. So yes, you will have to deal with that. And we use the term CGI all the time my field and we mean graphics when we use it.

Now, staying on topic. I can only hope I can get to the level these guys are producing. It is some sweet looking stuff. But I don't really see the shoulder, it just doesn't look like a shoulder to me.

I only recall Bay saying something in one of those interviews about Optimus having flames, not that they were scene specifc or in any "context." I'm guessing he'll sport them for the whole movie.

Hopes Prime will have MP face and this helmet.

Supposedly, his face plate comes up over a mouth like Primal/GF Prime. Imagine how creepy he'd look if he had the skeletal face underneath MP's faceplate.

Prime is awesome, those who dont like it, well sqrew you. You see the damned movie anyways and come out waiting to see the next one.

I can't believe how easily impressed people are. I'm not CGI expert, but I guarantee that if I had a couple of weeks to knock something together in my crappy little free modelling program, I could come out with something just as good. The only thing convincing is the hand but that could just be clever texture work.

I'm really disappointed in the fanbase's reaction more than anthing...
