No BT version.  If you want him, you'll have to get the Alt version since that's the only one being made.  They are using the mold however for a BT Kiss Rodimus.

Did I miss something? I've seen the Alternator version, but where is the Binaltech version of Mirage?

Yes, you missed out on the last few months where TakaraTomy screwed the collectors royally.

1) No new BTs

2) KISS which is hugely expensive and w/ Prime at least, doesn't even have die-cast, and of course

3) your avatar, MP SS, having mold changes and drastic coloration issues.

Alts and Binaltech, or whatever it's called this week have effectively divided.  Odds are from now on most if not all Alts will have noteable differences from their Japanese counterparts.

That's not for sure. Apparently,  Tomy said they painted Alt Prime(s)  first for testing purposes.  Digital Toys are also specifcally saying it does have diecast.

Time will tell if it's true or not.

I'm starting to think that it's not true.

But even if Convoy has some die-cast, the KISS Hot Rod definitely won't - he's listing for a price of 3500 yen (I forget the exact numbers, but the BTs listed around 4500-5000 yen and the BTAs listed for 6000-6500).

Damnit, that's a pity. I rather have the die-cast versions than the plastic ones.

So Hot Rod is going to be plastic as well  :tdown Another bummer.

Looks like I'll have to switch to a US store now to get my stuff. Here is for hoping that the US version of MP-03 Starscream will have the proper colors so that I can get it at the same store.

That's interesting b/c BBTS has him listed for $65 + shipping. That is $15 more than what I used to pay for my BTs. What a rip off for a plastic TF w/ a crappy little pvc figurine.

I am interested to see if Prime will have discast or not, but I bet that TT decided not to invest the $ into developing seperate molds for die-cast for a figure that they don't think will sell very well in Japan. But as you say godsenddeath, time will tell.

It's possible that I might be wrong, of course, I cannot now find the website where I saw that number for verification.  It was somewhere in those Tokyo Toy Show reports, I just remembered that approximate price as it seemed like it was too low to contain any diecast (although it might have been 3800 yen like the releases that come with large girl figurines and mini-Transformers).  However, that report might have been in error - BBTS usually has a pretty good idea of the correct selling price - so I guess there is still a chance Roddy might contain diecast (unless BBTS is just basing their price on the old BTA price for a diecast BT with mini-girl).

Either way, I'm still probably going to get him - shoot, he comes equipped with a Fishing Rod of Doom.  (Sadly, creepy little bondage girl will have to remain in the package.)

as long as i get a version of the mold i don't mind

I was actually a bit disappointed with Mirage's robot mode - he doesn't really peg together so ends up being super floppy.

I can only imagine how much worse it would be if he were diecast.

However, his car mode is super sweet - the panel line break placement was very good, you can barely tell he's a toy robot in car mode.
