Cybertron Soundwave frees Unicron's spark which takes off to a planet and corrupts the people on it (they look a little too much like Cardassians, all the way down to the head ridges and skin color) causing them to destroy themselves. He then takes the planet and condenses it down to about 1/1000 of its original size (ballpark guess) and uses that to form his new body like an egg.

I still think the smaller Unicron figure would've been a cooler concept if they marketed it as one of those Unicron-worshipping cult TFs that they had in G1. They could call it "Unicronian Acolyte" or something. Here's hoping the bio & tech specs will elude to something like that... what's the card bio say?

That.... is an EXCELLENT idea... and that's who he'll be in my collection.

Hadn't thought of using him as an acolyte. I, too, will start referring to him as such :)

I know this thread is about Unicron, and he's hella sweet, yeah - but has anyone noticed there's 2 versions of Prime out there?? One has all the planet symbols and one does not. Weird!!

Yeah, picked up Unicron the other day (passed on Prime, I really only want one of him on display). Damn those hip joints! Can't get him to do hardly anything buy stand straight up with how floppy mine are. Still, really nice mold, the little moveable gun on his left is a very nice touch.

For a Deluxe figure Unicron is actually pretty cool.

 

Recieved one last week from a member in Endcapping. Haven't played with him all that much but out of the package I really liked him despite minor flaws. The tank mode is pretty neat and hold together well. The bot mode though is my personal favorite. Everything about him feels just as solid and for most part well excecuted as any other deluxe mode. I surprisingly found myself liking Unicron a lot more than Sideways which personally I didn't see as being that great to begin with. Articulation is decent and the Bludgon esque head sculpt is killer.

 

Unicron as with any other TF isn't without issues. As already stated in this thread his ball joint legs are hella loose. Probably the worst I have ever seen. A little bit of funtack however makes for a quick fix to pose properly. Another issue I noticed right from the get go is his shoulder launcher is damn near useless. The spring inside is either too weak to launch the missil no further than half the length of the barrel or the spring is altogether shot. Also a 360 rotating turret would have been a nice thought alongside the lateral up and down movement.

 

Aside from that I really have no problem recommending Cybertron Unicron to any mainstream collector. Definitely not the best but easily far from the worst.
