No Die-Cast for KISS Convoy?

Recommended Posts

The level of diecast remains to be seen,

If it's anything beyond a metal crotch plate, i'll be suprised.

Most likely the hood and doors. After that is gets tricky. Either the front fenders minus bumper will be all diecast or the side panels on the truck bed will be diecast.

I doubt the front fenders will be diecast, it might make him too top-heavy.

I'm guessing:  hood, doors and the truck bed side panels.

Only reason I say front and not back is because that would be a lot of diecast compared to the other bots. With the way Prime is designed, I dont think the shoulders being diecast would be a problem. His loose ass legs is the thing to watch for.

Your Alt Prime is supper floppy too, then?

That's why I was thinking he would have minimal diecast up high, the Alt barely wants to stand up as it is.

^yeah. it's the legs fault.

I still can't find an Alt Prime :grr

I'm glad that when I do it won't come with a child figure that wants to kiss it.

you know, i was kind of hoping that BTA Convoy wouldn't have die-cast. i like the paint job better than that of the Alt but now the die-cast will make it fragile as hell.

I'm sure the guys at Takara-Tomy know what they're doing. This is also good news that Binaltech is alive so most likely Rumble and Mirage will be released as BT one way or another. Takara may also have plans to release their own and that is why Alternators is actually slowing down with most of the new releases being straight repaints. What made Binaltech unique to Alternators was of course the die-cast. If you are afraid of paint scratching or fragility, buy Alternators.

What made Binaltech unique to Alternators was of course the die-cast.

Not just the die cast.

Alt Subaru paint job 3 - straight repaint.

BT Subaru paint job 3 - Remold featuring new spoiler, police lights molded into the roof, and slight moddifications around the grill.

Also, being fully aware that many fans wanted to switch Prowl and alert's heads, and many things pointing to the fact that it seems they had intended them to be the other way around originally, the BT mold was reapinted to accomodate that.

Straight head swap with no work needed and you could have G1 Prowl and a decent likeness of G1 alert.

If no swap, you still have Prowl and alert.

Alt repaint does not, indicating a "we don't care what some may like, you get what you're given and you'll like it" attitude that leaves everyone with no option for an easy G1 Alt prowl and no alert at all, just a Ricochet many think was given the "wrong" body.

Also, Binaltech was unique in having cars that looked like cars and not boy racer crap (Skids).

So...Convoy still may or may not be die-cast...

And I AM going to SDCC next month, and I actually like the Nemesis repaint on the mold quite a bit.

Not a completist, not to mention short of space, so I'm not getting both...

Aaaaagh.  Can't decide!  And it's not even a good mold to be worth getting torn about!
