Very disturbing. I am kinda glad there isn't any die-cast now. I am not sure that I want to support a line w/ these little figurines in it.

It's about as likely as Hasbro putting European number plates on their Alts.

 

I think it's possible they may well go die cast again at some point, but Prime's robot mode sucks and that type of vehicle is rare in Japan I believe, so I would imagine it's a fairly risky figure to invest in in that way.

because in Japan, little plastic figurines of pedoliscious women are more popular than high quality actionfigures of robots that transform into real life vehicles.

This is a really smart move on Takara/Tomy's part. They know the Optimus Prime fanatics would buy anything with the name Optimus Prime slapped on it. Taking out the die-cast metal parts not only save them money on the production of the toy, but also allow for the price point to stay the same because of the "it's an Optimus Prime so I have to buy it" mentality of the Optimus Prime fanatic's mind.
