Alternator Megatron????

Recommended Posts

But what reason would you have to think that?

if the movie designs are anything like that Starscream sketch we saw awhile back, i doubt that Hasbro would be able to engineer a 6 inch toy that's even remotely similar to that. at most, that design would need an alternator level of detail to pull off, something that Hasbro can't do on their own without Takara's help.

of course, it's still possible that Movie-Screamer may not look like that design sketch but so far, a lot of the other movie-related rumors have come true.

That illustration seems like the same style of all the Binaltech drawings. Even Meg's mouth, with the typical "Alternator frown". I can just see that inside the booklet of a Binaltech edition. The angle of his full view and everything. My money is on ALT/BT or at least a potential MP product....

This seems way to simplified for a movie version of Megs, who I imagine will be really techy and alien-mechanoid-y.

Oh I have no doubt that the toys will be massively dumbed down... unless the movie happens to be fabulously awesome and does a bazillion dollars at the box office so Sideshow can make these awesome scale replicas that I will never be able to afford.

i'm not saying that this pic is of movie Megatron. my concern is that, regardless of what toyline that megatron toy belongs to, the movie tf's will have transtechy designs while the toys stick to the tradtional G1 design elements

But what reason would you have to think that? While I'm sure that the toys will be simplified versions of what you see on screen, I don't see why anyone would think "hey here's a thought -- let's make the toys look nothing like the movie characters!" How is that a good idea at all? Ever notice that every TF show since Beast Machines has had mega-show-accurate toys? LEARN'D

I thought that was because the animators did a 3D scan of the toys and just gave the scan in CG characters a little more detail before animating them. Basically, the Toys came first.

Well it doesn't matter which came first; the point is that there was effective co-ordination between Hasbro/Takara and the people doing the shows. As long as that's there, there's no difference between "toys first" and "show first".

And I'm sure with a feature film, which does not have the rushed schedule of a TV show, there would be ample time for Hasbro and ...whoever's designing the movie TFs to sync up with each other.

I dont know. Cybertron's cartoon images are spot on toy accurate. Hotshot's head is even visible in car mode. I know what you're trying to say about the movie (so no need to explain that again) but Cybertron and the toy designers had to be working together too. The design are almost exact. I feel like I'm watching the toys in motion when I see the show.

that's what I was saying

Oh I have no doubt that the toys will be massively dumbed down...

i'm not saying that "Hasbro will dumb down the movie designs", i'm saying that hasbro is rather conservative when it comes to tf designs. they might think that the movie designs will not appeal to the kids that the toyline will be aimed at so they'll proably "reimage" the toy designs to be closer to what we've seen in the past few years.

They would do so at their own peril... I can't see any marketing exec okaying that idea.

I still think kids would want them for name alone. As long as the Alt mode is spot on
