Alternator Megatron????

Recommended Posts

Hasbro is a lot more conservative regarding TF design than the movie people will be.

now i'm a bit worried about a repete of the Beast Machines fiasco. the movie designs might be all transtechy while the toys will have the more traditional G1 design elements.

I'm sure the toys will match the movie designs. You don't screw up something this important.

and just to say it one more time:

this is a traditional G1 blocky robot design

the movie will not feature such designs

edit: oh I think I get what you were saying. What I meant is that Hasbro is much less likely to deviate from what the fans would want (i.e. "come up with on their own since they have no imagination") than the movie people are. Therefore this is most likely a Hasbro design.

G1 started this type of fiasco. I saw most of the characters on the show first and then saw the toys and was like, "WTF. So Megatron's toy has a ding ding?!" I felt ashamed to be looking at him.

Didn't Michael Bay confirm that Megatron is gonna be a warplane for Transformers the Movie?

I could be wrong, I just remember something like that.

It's probably a Supreme-Scale Alternator...for $50, you get an all-plastic combatant for MP Prime.  Perfect to conincide with MP Prime's re-release with the Movie Anniversary coming up!

Goddamn it, please put a freaking "spoiler" warning before you do crap like that. I, and others I am sure are trying to avoid all spoilers from the movie.

Nope.

The script reviews say he was a Cybertronian jet and Bay has confirmed that these drafts are months old and that much has changed.

Also At Transformerscon Don Murphy Said Megatron Would Be A Tank :)

Seriously, stop this Blot. Use the damn spoiler tags, that is what they are for.

EDIT: By the way, I am trying really hard not to cuss here. I am failing, but this kind of Blot really pisses me off. Just put "spoiler" or use the tags please.

by the time the movie comes out, there's no way you won't know the alt mode for megatron.  They toys will probably be out before the movie premiers anyway.

and I'm with Tman about this megatron.  I'm gonna be kinda blah about it until I see actual images and stuff.

I'd think you would be more ashamed that you called it a "ding ding"

*edit*

Ha! I was 7 at the time so I was probably thinking Dick but I didn't cuss back then.

I remember seeing the Windcharger toy and going "is he on the show? Is this a GoBot?" Those first season drawing looked nothing like the toys. Cept Soundwave

However, the difference between that situation and what happened with Beast Machines is that the character designs were intentionally changed from existing toys in order to look more human (and therefore be more "accessible" to the comic audience, by Marvel's logic). Beast Machines was like what happened with TF:TM except like 1000x worse -- the toys and show characters were both based off of concept art, which each took in a separate direction.

i'm not saying that this pic is of movie Megatron. my concern is that, regardless of what toyline that megatron toy belongs to, the movie tf's will have transtechy designs while the toys stick to the tradtional G1 design elements

As usual, Madhammer's right.  It's not Movie Megs.  Whatever this is, though, it looks really good, so let's just hope it sees the light of day in any format.

But what reason would you have to think that? While I'm sure that the toys will be simplified versions of what you see on screen, I don't see why anyone would think "hey here's a thought -- let's make the toys look nothing like the movie characters!" How is that a good idea at all? Ever notice that every TF show since Beast Machines has had mega-show-accurate toys? LEARN'D
