well, maybe not Nautilator exclusively but he does seem to be a general homage to the seacons. he has the same colors and his face even looks like Pirhanacon's.

Why does Shortround NEED to be an homage to ANYTHING? Here's a crazy idea, maybe Shortround is a completely new character, completely unrelated to any previous Transformer!

 

He might look a bit like the Seacons, but not close enough for anything certain.

 

And aside from the alt mode, he looks nothing like Seaspray (it feels like I make this point at least once a time!)

that's a really good analogy.  I think we've all gotten a little too homage crazy.  It'd be like saying G1 Getaway is an homage to Optimus because they both wear mouth plates...

 

two characters wearing the likeness of pilots' helmets with the tubes and all does not necessarily mean that Shortround has homage bits of Jetstorm.

 

Can you imagine if we did that with people?
