I still cant believe they released a White Prime as MP fig.

I'm going to buy him, regardless of the colors. Though I look forward to Skywarp even more.

 

 

Here is a pic with a few lines to show the different wing locations. Check the top of the wings compared to the head. Also check the bottom tips of the main wings with the top tips of the smaller wings.

I do tend to agree w/ some of the posts over on TFW2005. They are staying, and I immediately thought, that the bot mode is just too blocky.

Eh, he's close and I think I figured out what is wrong w/ him.

 

If you look at the pics, you can tell that his wings are not positioned the same in the front and back shots. In the back shot, they are raised up to where they need to be and that looks much better. In the front shot, he looks too much like RM SS w/ the low wings to suit me. Plus the air intakes aren't positioned forward like they should be and as is shown in the sketches. (To give credit where it is due, all of these observations were made at TFW2005, which I was reading while this site was temporarily down. Glad its back up!!!).

 

There was some slight mis-transformation (surprise surprise), but I think that when done correctly, he will be totally accurate.

 

EDIT: Also, I don't think the cockpit is rotated forward enough/pushed in on the bottom. The sketches clearly show that the neck is more exposed and the angle of the cokpit is slanted down much more. The proto has it almost flat to the body when it should probably be angled more. Anyway, one more thing that will undoubtedly help the accuracy and make him just look better overall.

Anyhow, this toy looks great. I really do hope it is as small as everyone seems to fear it is.....I don't have a ton of room.

 

My only complaint is something that will never change and can't be helped cos it is the nature of the character....however it doesn't change the fact that it is a minor Starscream for me:

 

I Hate The F---'n Colors!

The near white gray....the ugly baby blue...the hidious Orange cockpit and just a few trimings of red. My god I always thought this was ugly......but it is starscream.

For a $100+ Masterpiece, you better believe I want them to get it right. I think they did w/ Prime and I expect nothing less on MP SS. What's wrong w/ that?? Plus, all the stuff that I pointed out, I am pretty sure can be fixed if they just TFed him right. I do love intricate transformations, those are by far the most fun.

Looking good so far, I'll wait till I see a fully finished product though.  I tihnk the legs can be pulled down a little to give him waist articulation.  Most likely the prototype is mistransformed, so we can't see all his details.  For now though he is looking good, I wouldn't be surprised if some people have him in a pose that smacks of arrogance and has a picture with that pose and the words:  Worship me, insects, I'm metal sex on metal legs.

it is stunning as TF's go, bit dissapointed by the size though, from grabbing MP ,OP and a tape measure hes barely up to Primes armpits at the tips of the shoulder pieces. but a fair size compared to the Alternators. just to add, dont really get all the bashing of Magnus, financially the mold alone for something of the scale on a Masterpiece is a huge investment for Takara/Hasbro to field,  so repainting and rereleasing is an obvious way of making the money back, which proved to work as the fans still lapped it up, Magnus and Prime together are an amazing set of figures together. and little else would work with the mold, nemesis would have been an interesting choice but after the Dreamwave comics which a huge percentage of the fandom would have purchased and got heavily into, the Magnus repaint is perfect. in the same way that with Screamer their likely to do the other seekers, and no doubt numerous kitbashes will appear of sunstorm etc.
