I don't think they need to.  When Dirge was reissued, they drew his box art without the cone on his head.

all of the :Dc jet toys had regular heads, in the instructions & box art & catalog pics etc. They just changed it for the cartoon to make them look different or something.

 

and now we are all slaves to that decision :roll

edit: Hey wait a second.. how come the jet canopy only has one arch brace thingy? The F-15 should have two.

Maybe they'll paint it later? Actually this isn't the final fig so they could change a few minor detail like that.

The back one is exactly in the middle of the canopy on the chest. The front one is the break point of transformation and makes the first bit of the canopy be obscured from view in the robot mode.

I'm not completely sure how, but you can see stuff in in between the arms in jet-mode. I think that's it. It probably has a weird turning mechanism similar to MP Prime.

I'm expecting a lot of stuff to be pushed inside the nosecone, unfolding-like.

 

And.. Holy Blot. The Dealer scans? Yeah.. they molded that the jet nozzles move independantly of each other. Awesome detail that'll help with poseability, Powerglideing awesome in that modern-day jets are using nozzle-vector turning and the like. I am soo happy.
