If a TF can scan a vechicle to asume a new alt mode, can they RE-scan a new vechicle for another mode on the fly later on? I know we have never actualy seen an instance of this, but is it hypotheticaly possible? I mean they have a cybertronian mode, and then they scan for a new mode, but after all is said and done, what next? does the asumed mode wear off, does he manualy revert it back to default, or does he have to re-scan or something?

some one fill me in 'cause the guide and comics say nothing.

(Thought of it last night while tring to get to sleep.)

i would assume that they need something to reformat them.  when they were reformatted on the ark it scanned vehicles, and then were repaired and reformatted.  so i don't think they can do it themselves.  seems like they need a little help.  i could be wrong, though.  can anyone refresh my memory as to how they were reformatted in beast wars?

It's actually a pretty simple process of events:

Step 1: Hastak designs a new mold.

Step 2: Hastak decides which charachter this mold will be.

Step 3: The show's writers have to figure out a way to work this new mold into the script, even if it is an update of an existing charachter.

Step 4: Alt mode is reformatted.

He's always that little guy standing around in the background. You never noticed him???

I suppose they could reformat themselves w/ whatever scanning technology they had, but in BM, they had to have the help of Primal and the Oracle to do it.

I do love when people try to find logic in a kids show (no offense Sideburn, I have wondered stuff like that myself).

Ja... getting a new alt mode means being completely rebuilt. It's a hassle. I would also imagine that the process would consume a lot of resources, such as energy, raw materials et al. It wouldn't be terribly economical to keep rebuilding your army all the time. But G0 is right... at the end of the day, a Transformer gets a new alt mode if HasTak makes a new toy for said character.

During G1 Optimus Prime got a new spankin' Powermaster form, but not Megatron. Why? NO TOY! :P

The list goes on...

Not sure about 'on the fly'...but they were able to scan in new forms in Galaxy Force/Cybertron.

That's how whatshisface became Ligerjack/Leobreaker, and Hotshot, Red alert, Scattorshot became the Cybertron Defense forms. They scanned in new forms.

Aoi

I doubt they'd want to all that much, they probably start to build an identity to their form.  God knows Tracks did.
