yes, bwecause weight and mass are totaly different, I dont care if he was as light as a feather hed still be huge

and nano is small but on the atomic level? even if one could change the weight that would require changing other elemental properties

And that's too farfetched from the idea of giant alien shapeshifting robots... how?

I always thought prime trailer was a hologram after the three parter.

It really didn't do anything important and that would explain what happened to roller.

it housed chronally displaced mammoths, and Autobots when they broke into that one lab...

Did you miss the part in my last post about anti-gravity technology manipulating weight? THAT explains the difference in mass, and quite good IMHO.

Anti-gravity technology, as the name suggests, effects weight, which is defined as mass times gravitational acceleration. How does it effect mass though?

And besides, you're talking like you have canonical evidence of X-BoB's theory.

The notion of mass-shifting has never been official mentioned, but it is far more probable than your explanation.

It don't.

You guys're suggesting that the TFs change size because they hide parts of them in a subspace pocket. What parts? Is there really mechanisms in them that are programmed to shove most of the mass of each and every panel or joint into subspace while still maintaining stability of the robot itself? Unless that's not how mass shifting works...

My theory is based on nanotech and anti-grav, which is far more widely used in scifi(at least from what I've seen). The nanomachines simply just collapse each part of the TF, reducing size, and anti-gravity units kick in to make sure the TF don't still weigh 10 tons.

Maybe I'm misconcieving your theory(or to a lesser extent, my own), but I don't see how your's is more likely.

The mass-shifting theory is just that... a fan-theory. It's non-canonical, although it is generally widely accepted by most fans. Having said that, it's no more or less "official" than your nanotech theory or any other theory.

The reality is that to date, canon has offered no explanation as to how Transformers can manipulate their size, mass, weight and density. We can sit here and speculate endless theories until the cows come home, but ultimately none of them would be canonical anyway. Besides, we all know that it's because of Midichlorians. d: :p

Btw, Optimus Prime's trailer never actually "vanishes" -- if you watch the cartoons, it just rolls away off-camera when Prime transforms. It remains off-camera for the rest of the scene, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's "vanished." It could just be rolling around... just... forever off camera. :p

It wasn't a hologram when he rolled down the hill!
