I'm waiting for a movie that would nullify the timeline of the G1 TF:TM completely, rendering the entire G1 mythos pointless.

I always hated the "UNICRON IS AN EVIL GOD" idea, almost as much as i hated the TV series backstory for Unicron after the movie.

I think Unicron being a god limits him as a character.  and S3 was so dumb that I've never finished watching it.

Season 3 gets props Dark Awakening, Webworld and for lots of Grimlock episodes, and gets shot in the kneecaps for making him a bumbling sidekick, and for having too many monkey men.

I prefer Unicron as basically some bug hungry guy who happens to be the most destructive transformer in the universe. o divine intervention or nothing

Unicron was only a God in the comics. In the cartoons, he was, as MGNB,MGK describes it, a big hungry guy who happens to be the most destructive Transformer in the universe.

Now they are, but until 3H folded, they were continuity, as they were clearly designed to follow the TV series', and at least one was written by Bob Forward...

Universe/Wreckers follows BW continuity... which is based on a rather broad generic G1 continuity, that borrowed elements from both the cartoon and comics. So as to whether Universe/Wreckers actually does retcon the cartoon, the answer is... yeah kinda. :P
