Here's a pic of Alt. Prime with Skids head. I think it should look pretty good after a little paint. I'm a little leary of going ahead with it being Ironhide until I find out weither or not Hasbro will actually do an Alt. Megatron... I guess I could always get another alt. Prime...

Hey! Hey...That doesn't look bad at all. It looks right. Now when you paint that head red, I'll have to see if he's really Ironhide worthy. If I were a good kitbasher, I'd make all the blue parts silver.

The hands themselves work ok. The sockets are a little different size, but it could work, the only thing is the size of the hole in the palm is different for the weapon peg. (I've already tried it with an Alt. Grimlock)

Ya I plan on painting him, but I've got  a few other kb's I'm in the process of doing, so I might leave him to last.

ok, here is my semi-finished, minion inspired, alt op.paint app wise, i may add something to the legs like grey vents(not silver) and grey in the smushed stop sign shape of the legs. i may paint the 2 stripes yellow on the arms and i kinda like the rams with the entire grill silver instead of matching the paint. i may also find a way to attatch the black rails to the back of the cab too.

okay... gonna be ready to try and do this in a couple of weeks. it's my first alt too, so i want to do a good job. i need step-by-step how-tos for the leg extension [did you just do the pulling, or did you cut off/reposition the kneecap pieces?], shoulder kibble fix, and how to attach the inverted grille to the chest.

that would be most helpful minion.  Especially in descrtibing the chest (inverted grille, and coverting the the shoulder pads to be the top of the chest).

I couldn't decide whether to alter alt Prime's legs & knees (like in the above replies), so I just re-painted his thighs silver. The amount of leg black is dramatically lessened which gives Prime a less boxey feel...

That looks good! I'm thinking of painting mine too, but I don't know where to start in terms of paint.
