or is it possible/desireable to rotate them all teh way so they line his arms (like G1 Sideswipe)

It's still a WIP and there aren't seats on his arms any longer.  Drill a hole in the shield where the arrow shows, which will allow the peg on his arm to slip in.

 

 

The last part of this mod will show how to rotate the seats so that they can stay on his back.  If you choose to leave the seats I'm sure you can still find a way to attach it.

The articulation is better and there is less interference.  The un-modded setup, with the doors over the arms like G1 Sideswipe is worse for movement.

Alt Prime is really cooler than he has been given credit for based on all of the photos prior to his release.  I also felt the review at TFormers was a bit harsh as well, although the reviewer had some valid points.  Even despite my positive biases towards this great line, I have to admit I was rather skeptical of Alt Prime.  After he finally got here, I grew to really like him.  I eventually want to do a few customs with this mold and this thread has further fueled inspirtation for that. :thumb

I thought he looked pretty cool in the beginning but I do believe that once you have him in your hands your ideas start to change about the guy...much like some of the toys I collected over the years.  Will probably be no different for Alt Prime.  Anyone have any picts of the unmodified version with the extended legs?  I want to get a good idea of what I'm looking forward to.

I will add my agreement to what everyone else is saying... HOLY Blot!!!! That really is 1000x better. I am actually impressed w/ the mold that way.

 

I need to review your instructions again, but I think I might buy Alt Prime to try most of this mod and see how I do, then get the BT and do it for real (then give the Alt to my nephew).
