G2 Beast Wars

Recommended Posts

It was something like 3 or 4 thousand years before BW, I'm sure he didn't. But a) its probabley still circling Cybertron. Looking up of an evening you'd think Megs would notice the moon and the stars and the giant floating hed, and b) somehow, I feel the fact that Unicron tried to eat the planet would be reason enough for there to be a historical record. Kinda the thing that might be remembered for future generations....NOT TO  GET THEIR PLANET EATEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides, he was revived in BW Neo, which fits in with the BW continuity.

BW takes place 300 years after G1.

300 cybertronian years after, which apparently add up to 80 earth years. Something they came up with after the series ended, to explain how the race could evolve so much in such a short period of time, especially since they hadn't changed much for around 4 million years. I think the cybertronian year is called a Vorn...

To give you another reason to hate Beast Machines, the story editors placed the events of BW/BM "eons" after G1.

I think that makes pefect sense actually. It would explain alot of things, one the evolution of cyberorganic transformers, which would probably take a few hundred years to get right, since the closet they've got are the animal transformers, who have beastial instincts, and two the fact Megatron didn't know where earth was, the disc being both a map and a message. It also helps when you consider that I doubt the war could be won and a peace that lasts for centuries forged in 300 earth years, not with the amount of tension between autobots and decepticons. You'd need a new beneration, and the new generation would need alot of time. IT lso adds to just the idea. Their aliens, why should all their measurements be like ours. It was something I rather liked, adds a litle more to the series.

oh well, that backfired

anyway I always felt that BW made no sense if you followed the American G1 continuity all the way to the end (i.e. "Rebirth"). At the end of G1, the Decepticons were all blasted off into deep space and the Autobots had sole control of Cybertron. Everything ended nice and neat.

And then in BW they retconned in the Maximals and Predacons being the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons... which would have been fine if there had been any Decepticons left, and if they had just decided to stop fighting at some point.

I liked BW better before they tied it to G1.

I liked the way it worked out. We've got a few thousand years for galvatron to come back and fight optimus, the autobots win, apparently, and we get the set up for BW. In fact, for a series whose writers didn't know much transformers early on, I think it fits in very well. One or wo continuity errors, but you get those in any continuation. All in all, an aspect I was very satisified with.

Course if you follow the comic continuity, your definetly gonna be annoyed with BWs, but I don't, so I'm not.

Think I might have a go at a fanfic about how the autobots won. Me thinks Optimus and Glvatron kill each other, yes, the plan, she is a-forming  :tfevil

Personally I think the link between G1 and BW makes a lot more sense if G1 ends after TF:TM. Galvatron is gone, the Decepticons (still on Cybertron) are leaderless, the Autobots leverage this into a truce (being the noble, naive guys that they are) and thus the Pax Cybertronia is born. Ba-da bing. (and of course this would only make Mega/Galvatron more of a legendary figure in the eyes of the Predacons, since they were only defeat-able once he was gone)

and this way you also have a reason why Cybertron looks so different in BW/BM -- they had to do a lot of renovations after Unicron fuxx0red their planet. :tfgrin

Well since the writers didn't get past primes death until they started writing season three, that could be possible..
