What would happen if they aloud swearing?

Recommended Posts

well, how about if we get snoop dog to stop by in the movie and say to Megatron that he should get the snippidy shoota outha wachizzle mcnizzle my bizzle?

And have Bumblebee jump up and say DAAAAMMMNNNNN...

ANd then prime comes out and says WORD.

Megatron stands there asking what the hell is everyone saying???  - BLAM -

I think they need to write it and focus on the story, knock off the swear words or what ever.

what's next, sex scene with Spike and Carley, getting Bizzay in the back seat of bumblebee? NOT!

i think that in most cases swearing is used to convey seriousness and realism.  honestly, who the hell, in the heat of battle, is going to say "awww dangit to heck the booger got away!"?  at least thats how i see most of it's use in serious television and movies, and by serious i mean almost anything not a comedy where most cursing is done to "shock".  at least thats my opinion.  it is a double-edged sword because without such a taboo, we wouldn't have the spongebob episode about cursing (i laughed.... hard...) :tflaugh

galaxy force was FULL of swearing, they said Blot and damn all the time lol.  this is another reason i prefer to watch a series in it's raw form so i don't have to worry about ppl changing things (and i don't think tv-nihon would)

This is because the Japanese levels of censorship are different tha US broadcasting.. and many swear words don't have 100% equivelents in English.. so the translators used the closest appropriate word. ;-)

That's true. Like we get to say stuff like "You Bloody idiot!" and it's not cursing here. I heard the movie "Free Willy" had to get a name change because a Willy is something else in England.

urban myth. they still called it free willy over here (much to the amusement of little school kids)

:redface sorry, i had to do that....

hey Storm, wanna tell them what "Night Slash Cheetor" means outside of North America? *giggle* ;)

Elita-One: The thread topic does say series - which excludes the movie. I presume it refers to the cartoon and comic series, neither of which had swearing. There was one time when a human character said "You son of a--", but he never finished that sentence (I believe that was in issue US#68).

well, i think she's talking about the television series'.... each of the three medium's have their own set of guidelines and both movies and comics are far more lieniant (god i need spell check) than tele.

Night Slash Cheetor is almost as good as Powermaster Lube :tflaugh

When did they swear in the comics?!

IDW beast wars #3.

If 'hell' and 'damn' are still considered swears.

they arent.

they arent.

dunno where your from bub but i dare ya to come over here and say either of those anywhere outside of religious contexts.

bad looks + parents covering children's ears (my favorite reaction) = swears.

i was with my mother-in-law in the walmart the other day and was getting pissed off at the cell phone.  i called the phone a piece of junk (for reasons unbeknownst to me, i was thinking of the word Blot instead of junk), and as soon as i'd said it two parents walked past with a small boy in the front of the cart and he goes "piece of junk?" and then continued to repeat the phrase to his parents' (and our) amusment.  i told my mother in law it's a good thing i didn't say Blot, i'd have gotten my ass kicked (the dad looked mean).  normaly i don't censor myself, dunno why i said junk, but ah well.
