prototype or exclusive ????

Recommended Posts

What would you choose to increase the status of your collection, what would be your crown jewel:

1) A binaltech prototype costing rougly US$ 130,00

2) a special exclusive such the galaxy force thunderforce white edition of roughly US$ 100 or the red excellion.

3) A non-transformer item such as the new Optimus Prime Masterpiece trailer.

4) an old rare original transformer such as the original soundwave MISB.

As I live in a small country growing up there was a even smaller toystore. which sometimes had transformers, but never more that 10 a year. When I earned money it was always very simple I bought the ones available in this small toystore. now its different, even in our small city we have wireless internet connections available, and now I need to choose.

Through ebay, ect I can even get rare special 1 of a kind prototypes, special reissues and the original transformers of 20 years are only behind the corner. for a certain price that is.

I want to obtain a crown jewel what should I get, I'm looking at exclusives and prototypes and I must say a binaltech prototype is really 1 of a kind. exclusives such as the red excellion feel a little like recolors and with armada, energon and cybertron I already have enough.

with older lines this is also the same a crystal hot rod or a fire god ginrai...

what makes a crown jewel.

i'd get a prerub or even microman soundwave misb, just something old

exclusives are just repaints and prototypes are just blah, they're ugly as hell and the final product is not only cheaper but looks a hell of alot better`

even though they are prototypes, those binaltech proto's seemed larger in number and slightly easier to get as compared to other protos. However my crown jewel is my tidal wave proto, so there is that. going by your options though, i'd have to say exclusives are nice, but a MIB g1 kicks and pre-rub or diaclone stuff is always a nice piece as buddykiller mentioned.

None of the above. I buy Transformers to enjoy them personally - usually to play with them. If I want to make a financial investment, I'll go hit the stock market... seriously... as investments go, toys appreciate quite slowly compared to shares and blue chips. You could buy Hasbro shares. They trade under HAS.

Umm... if I had to choose one of those options, I guess I'd take the MISB Soundwave.

i dont he wants to make money just have a rare item in his collection

idd go for the fire guts ginrai the thing with protos is they loose alot of thier value after the toys been released so if your getting a prime just wait a few months he will be cheaper then. Stuff like lucky draw repaints will only gain seeing as thiers no chance of a reproduction

I do not want to make money out of my collection, I just want something special in my collection.

I'm not that interested in a diaclone or a microman soundwave as that just doesn't feel as a transformer. I know that this is silly, I just want the most out of my transformer collection and they aren't official transformers but pre-transformers although they look exactly the same as the transformerline was a recolor line out of those.

A lucky draw is nice and will never be reproduced but this is also for a prototype.

I like my collection, I have a nice display of G1 especially micromasters and actionmasters, binaltech, armada, energon and a little cybertron (I'm starting to get a little behind the releases).

but I want something thats blows everything away, the wowfactor, that as special as the entire collection while not being as expensive as the whole collection.

Lucky Draw Beast Machines Cheetor????

also known as Beast wars Returns Cheetor from lucky draw

If possible, I would go w/ the lucky draw like others have said, but you seem to want to get the Binaltech proto. Protos can be a very good addition if that is something that you like. It certainly would be rare and fairly hard to come by. If it is a good price and something that you think you would enjoy, then get it and make it your crown jewel.

I would also recommend considering getting a G1 figure that is in pristine condition. I was able to get an MIB G1 Omega Supreme that worked perfectly and to my astonishment had unapplied stickers (they didn't mention that in the auction). I would say that it might be my crown jewel. It is absolutely perfect and I am very proud to have it in my collection. Granted, others can have the same thing, but mine is perfect. Plus, it won't bankrupt you like a lucky draw or proto might.

i'm proud of my BT/Alt proto's that i still have and will not sell them at all
