Where is the news of BT's demise that would prompt such a question?

I like ricochet. :redface

Ricochet isn't that bad.

At least Hasbro bothered to make sure their  Imprezza mold was still usable. They even retooled the tabs a little.

..unlike Takara who did neither.

Where is the news of BT's demise that would prompt such a question?

I think the abrupt cancellation of BT Ginrai & BTA Black COnvoy had people worried.

Plus there haven't been any indications that the line would continue.

(Except maybe now with that Kiss Convoy & Melissa thing that was announced.)

Well after that announcement, there does appear to be some hope.

I really could care less about BT Ginrai, but man I would love to get a BT Mirage. I may not be able to wait for the BT version if the Alt comes out months sooner, plus it is confirmed, the BT is not (but if it did come out later, I would have to replace it w/ the BT version).

Mirage, grudgingly, but Swindle 2 (Rollbar), Silverstreak 2 (Ricochet), Meister reissue, Dodge Ram, Armada Nemesis straight-repaint-with-no-remolding-whatsoever Prime, and Mustang-repaint-that's-probably-a-green-Wheeljack-named-Cosmos?  Neither the Scion nor the GT are likely to have vehicle remolds and most of the remainder offer nothing new to collectors who started with Smokescreen in 2003.  Outside of a fire cheif Prowl, nothing really stands to scratch the G1 itch either.

Color me underwhelmed.  I'll wait for Takara to resume Binaltech; failing that, MP Starscream.  Unless that larger size class materializes, G1 Classic's when I'll be apt to start buying much at all from Hasbro again.

I gota side with Cyke here.  Though I WILL eventually get all variants (unless they come out with some like the Black Diaclone Tracks and only make 100 costing $500 or more) but I am in no rush now.

I have little interest in the current lines, cept Alts and MP (and missing Diaclones).

I take this time as an opportunity to let collectors catch up on their missing pieces of the collection if they want.  I am missing 3 color variants in the BT line right now, and am in no rush to go get them and just the new releases in the US.  When I find a good deal maybe I will.  Till then I have at least one version of each mold (cept Prime and Mirage).

Perhaps this is a good thing.  Maybe the next BT-2 line will give us = scale versions of HotRod or other future cars (arcee anyone?).  I would really like to see it modeled after the way he looked in the movie, more like a Tranzam or that new Saturn.

I am burnt out on repaints.  Awaiting Prime and Mirage, but the others can wait.

Especially since Ric should have been the Mazda mold and not Sub.  What do I have to do, make a custom reversed paint?

One last point I'd like to make.  The original BT/ALTs used not to complicated transformations that were like their original versions.  These newer models use FAR too complicated, and are almost physicially IMPOSSIBLE to transform with out popping off the arms and popping them back on to complete each transformation.

This is not an encourraging factor.  Granted it is nice that they are making it different for kids to have to figure out...but then its easier to break, and get parts lost and rather annoying.

I already started collecting Alts.  :thumb

I think that for being a plastic line they are very good figures. The only thing that I think should be done for the alts is more attention to painting and and delivering a better looking, better quality toy.  I've compared both qualitiesof each toy and besides the plastic vs die casting and the metallic painting of the toys I can't really say that there is a real major difference between them.  I LOVE die casting as much as anyone here and am wondering that now since Tomy-Tak is ceasing BT's, is Hasbro going to step up the quality of their Alts?  Would be nice to see Alts with metallic paint to rival the beauty of BT Smokes.

In any case, I'm still collecting the Alt line.  :thumb

If you own BTA alert, Please God, dont buy Ricochet! You will never buy another Alternator in you life if you do. In fact Rico and Rolly have their disappointing points. Rollbar, just like Alt Swindle in made of cheap plastic. Every time I snap his crotch part to his waist, I think Im going to break him. My BT Hound doesn't give my so much trouble.

TAZBOT

Ricochet has the look and feel of a KO. Not kidding.

The only thing interesting about Rico is the fact that the floor panel that connects to the front end of the car, has been remolded. Look here So it makes a more firm connection. The color just makes em look so bad and the one I had, had a gimpy right arm (some one else had the same issue)

I just received my BT Smokescreen off eBay today. It was in played with condition and the joints are fairly tight. I was impressed with this BT and just wanted to comment on how much easier it was to transform everything in place than BTA-alert was. The doors and panels aligned much easier than alert. Such a shame because I liked alert's repaint.
