If you are a Binaltech collector...

Btw, Alt prices vary. A lot of them have dropped in price, but here, the RRP (so that excludes sales) of Alternators is nearly the same as the RRP of BTs. Usually only cheaper by $10. So, when comparing Australian RRPs of Alts against the RRP of BTs, BTs are better value for money IMO.

If they cost that much here, I'd agree.  Go BT.

I'm happy enough to go to Alts now. So long as they manage to make sure the different panels match in color (unlike Windcharger)

really?  my WC was pretty color-coherant.  Decepticharge is terrbile though.

No they don't. Only BT-01 Smokescreen had that problem - every BT since then has seen Takara use increasingly resiliant chip-resistant paints

Guess no one told that toys that then.

My Red alert and Broadblast were fine, but my Skids was slightly chipped when I recieved him and my Sunstreaker was horribly chipped straight out of the box too.

I agree, the quality of BTAs is questionable.  I have both BTA-01 and BTA-02, the quality of them is so bad that I haven't get myself BTA-03.

My initial thought is to collect the new mold Alternators that are not available to BT.  I can care less about the repaint such as Rico and Rolly (and Swerve).  However, I don't think I will pass Decepticharge as it is a decepticon repaint.  Thanks for the reminder, I have totally forgotten his existence.  Now I need to find myself one.

, the quality of them is so bad that I haven't get myself BTA-03.

I've heard  very few complaints about BTA-03  - it's worth getting imo.

just sold all my BT's but none of mine have had any paint problems or what so ever

but if i would collect again i'd go fer alts cuz of more releases

That to me makes me feel like I have value for money. I have one Alt (Bluestreak - I refuse to acknowledge any other name) and while cool compared to Wheeljack, Tracks (in blue), and Jazz (white and reprolabeled) he seems naff and cheapy.

Odd you think that.

Considering that Streak was actually painted silver, I bet most people would have a hard time telling the difference between the two by sight alone.  (Same thing with Grimmy.)

My area hasn't seen Ricochet, Rollbar or Decepticharge.  The most recent Decepticon that I've seen and still a shelfwarmer is Shockblast in Type II packaging.

In case your wondering, I've labeled the packaging thusly.

Type I: Blue window box

Type II: Red box with cut out window leaving said figure easy for access to shoplifters (I think it was kind of stupid IMO)

Type III: Fishbowl packaging

I have all the BTs and BTAs, and the paint quality on all of mine is excellent.

The only problems I have had are w/ the alignment of panels on BTA-01 and 02. Both of which had major issues lining up correctly in alt mode and connecting together well in bot mode. I was able to fix them both (some trimming w/ an exacto knife), and now they are fine.

I have never had any problems whatsoever w/ BTA-03 Broadblast. That is probably b/c the mold was not overused (yet) like the Subaru and Viper molds were (Red alert was way worse off than Sunstreaker btw).

I say if you collect BTs, then get BTA-03, it is a good figure.

My Alt Prime has the different reds problem too.  :tfsad

Binaltech is so dead now, no one knows what's going on.  As a Binaltech collector, I am undecided whether I should stop or 'continue' the line with Alternators.

I think I will buy Alt Optimus, but how about Rollbar and Ricochet?

Rumours have resurfaced about the Black Convoy BTA again, so they may not be as dead as thought.

But in all honesty, I'm doubtful we'll see a BT Ricochet or Rollbar either way, so if you like them, get them Alt.

josh: if your BTs/BTAs are chipped from the box, then it's a case of poor quality control.

Yeah, I know that, and I knew the QC was lower at the time when I bought iyt so I'm not complaining.

My point was just that, if they can arrive chipped the paint is clearly not as unchipable as they claim.

If you own BTA alert, Please God, dont buy Ricochet! You will never buy another Alternator in you life if you do. In fact Rico and Rolly have their disappointing points. Rollbar, just like Alt Swindle in made of cheap plastic. Every time I snap his crotch part to his waist, I think Im going to break him. My BT Hound doesn't give my so much trouble.

TAZBOT

Ricochet has the look and feel of a KO. Not kidding.
