Well lets face it the new shows are all cheap ass anime. With cheap ass anime jokes, characters and time wsting special moves.

Having only seen the Japanese Transformers shows I cannot comment on other Anime other than Transformers.

 

Still, I can say that I probably like BW/BM MUCH better than any Japanese show but that is just my preference.

 

And G1/BW/BM are better than the Japanese Transformers shows which are really crappy. Aside from RID, all the TF shows made in Japan (I have seen so far) are really bad or mediocre at best.

 

So I can understand if people think all anime is like that. It is easy to generalize and I am one of the many fans who has taken a dislike to Japanese cartoons because the last Transformers shows were so poor when they could have been so great.

anime has sucked a lot more ever since Neon Genesis Evangelion. Ever since, Eva, Japanese anime studios have been churning out anime like there's no tomorrow.. unfortunately the increase in quantity has not seen an equal increment in quality.

 

This is not to say that all anime is crap - there are a lot of good anime out there... it's just that for the last ten years, they've been overshadowed by the immense amount of crap that anime studios are churning out.

 

Hollywood's pretty much the same... I find most American movies being released these days are absolute Blote... but you do occasionally find a few good ones.

 

So yeah, simply accusing all anime of being bad is ignorant.

I agree with terrorcon Blot and I go as far as saying Japanese audiences are too xenophobic and dislke anything outside their tried and dested formulae.

Seriously, I think that the "reason" Japanese people as a whole didn't like it (a fact of which I'm not even certain, but some would know better than me) isn't a "reason", but maybe hundreds of individual reasons, and certainly not boiled down to a paragraph or two...

 

Have any Japanese folks here piped in?  What's their take?

Anime is actually excellent, especially the likes of Full Metal Alcemist, but each to their own I guess, but the I don't think the TF anime's are as bad as they can come across, I just think their screwed up by the kids.....and hasbro making ludicrous continuity efforts for cybertron...except Energon, tht was just crap.

 

Remember that BW takes place four million years in the past, he had time.

I thought Headmaster, Beast Wars Neo, RiD, Armada and Energon were all rubbish. Cybertron is only marginaly better. IMO the American transformers shows were way better.

R.I.D. was actually pretty good as it did not take itself too seriously. I rather liked it though it is no G1.

 

Headmasters was quite awful though it started off good.

 

Cybertron has potential, have not seen too much of it.

I am not much of an anime fan just because i dont feel like it. I prefer cartoons to be more simple and not have to look for some hidden meaning crap. But spongebob still sucks. Ill stick to G1 and you can keep your own opinions.
